I went to purchase some cement steps for my parents. They guy at the project desk was very helpful and knowledgeable. Had me headed to the register with the correct products in minutes. That’s where the efficiency stopped. I went to check out with one person ahead of me. After standing in line with 2 checkers behind the counter and one person ahead for five minutes, I made some observations. Stines placed a lot of point of sale items near the registers. Most are out of date snacks and junk with dust all over the top item from lack of sale for a long time and no house keeping. There were a few damaged items mixed in. The whole 5 minute wait was bombarded with ringing phone lines nobody was answering. I finally was directed to the lumber yard for cement steps. Not where I needed to be. After the girl at the entrance made time with the fellas for 10 minutes, she directed me to drive through. Then again at the lumber yard exit, after the same girl went through a haha session with a new fella, she directed me to the cement steps near the road and a guy to load then was on the way. 30 minutes later, I call the Stines number. After a while, I finally get in contact with a human that directs me to the lumber yard girl. By that time I’m driving to the lumber yard and see 4 employees hanging out and vaping in the parking lot. 2 on fork truck and 2 standing. I asked the girl if she could get somebody to load my steps or if all those people were on break. She said none on break. She would get someone there. That time, 47 minutes later, I had a guy on a fork truck show up. Stines had 4 sets of steps I needed in stock. 3 where broken and ruined. He loaded the only undamaged set they had and left. This is the most disappointed visit to any of the 3 Stines I have visited. I’ve never had an issue at the DeRidder store. Too bad they...

Love the atmosphere here at Stine Lumber. Each time I choose to shop at my local Stine Lumber on Nelson Road in Lake Charles I know I've made the right decision. The moment I walk through the doors I am greeted by each employee in eyesight. Almost 100% of the employees are so courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. I honestly have no complaints but there is one employee that stands out the most in my head and that is Ms. Ada Simien!! Ms. Ada is there for me each and every time I shop. If she wasn't in eyesight I ask them to call for her over the radio and if she's not with another customer she comes right away. She makes me smile and laugh all while personally walking me to an area if I am unfamiliar with it. If asked, she would help me complete my entire shopping list. Thank you Stine Lumber for having this AMAZING LADY as part of the Stine Family. And also thank you for having such other great employees as well like Brooks, Mr. David, Faye, Mr. Wayne, etc. I "choose" Stine Lumber over all the other closer lumber yards (and even Amazon for the small things) simply because of the kindness and helpfulness of the people you employ. To summarize this long explanation for those who wish to get to the point...the store has good products that I did need. However, they were out of those products and the employee that I dealt with were very unhelpful and dismissive.

So I was looking at the display model for a storage shed out in front of the store that was the very size I needed. I went in to see what quantity they had on hand. Luckily the guy I asked was already looking at the sheds and told me they had none on-hand. So while I went to check out some power tools, I asked him to double check to make sure they had none and get me information on ordering one. So after finding they were also out of the power tools I was looking for I return to ask him what he had found out for me. And even though it was less than 10 mins later (at most) the employee looked at me confused and when I asked again. He had to ask me what I was even talking about. I explained again and then when I asked him the time period it would take to get more in stock he told me it would be awhile not actually answering me.
