We went to the new Denny’s in Lake City on July 5th, 2017 before 11am.
First off, we were seated on the right side of the restaurant where the air conditioning was NOT working. That day the temperatures were reading in the 90s while the feels like index was at 107 degrees. At this time they were not busy just before 11am On the side of the restaurant we were at there was only two other tables.
We waited for a server or ANYONE to acknowledge us. We were very thirsty and I started to get irritated. I got up to use the bathroom and came back. Still no one had even came up to our table. My husband finally waved someone after waiting over 13 minutes. She was great and apologetic. However, she wasn’t our server. She took our drink orders, our food orders, she was also the one that delivered our drink orders and she brought out our food.
Leta who supposed to be our server IS a lousy server, she had seen us and never came to our table for those first 35 minutes we were there. She FINALLY came to our table well after the other lady had served us our drinks and then our food. She could have come right after the other lady had initially taken our orders but she didn’t even acknowledge us until she brought us our bill and got a refill for us. Her excuse was that she was in the freezer. No way, we seen her go to and from the other two tables we were seated next too. We also overheard the lady who waited on us telling her that she got our orders. She did not thank her co-worker nor did she come up to us at that time to address us. Like mentioned she finally came up to us well after we received our food and had completed most of our meal. Then tried to make out like she cared about our service and was over doing it. She waited over 35 minutes to acknowledge us at the time she brought our check out.
There was NO WAY in heck she should be getting a tip for her lousy service. We tipped Leta $3 at the register and we gave the lady who actually DID Leta’s job a $5 cash tip. Why would we tip Lita that much when she did next to nothing and the other lady pretty much did it all.
The food was good, the service is sub par, the AC doesn’t work. My husband talked to another employee. That Denny’s building was actually an older one that was relocated from it’s previous location. Which is why they are having problems with the AC. This is what another employee said. When I took my daughter to the bathroom, there was another employee who was like “It is so much cooler in here, I can’t handle that heat, I sure hope they get it fixed”. I feel bad for the people especially in the kitchen area.
I hope they get their act together, demote some servers and promote others who step up and do their co-worker’s job!
I am just going to say there are a couple of 5 star reviews here. I know for a fact that they are employees of Denny's. Conflict of interest and bad...
Read moreIf negative stars would be possible, I would. I’ll be calling corporate on Monday. We have a team of students that was traveling for a tournament. We arrived to the adjacent hotel that frequently hosts teams. We had 18 students and 5 adults that needed dinner later in the evening. I called ahead to this location and explained our situation. I was told, though somewhat understandably annoyed, “Thanks for the heads up.” We arrived and as we entered the location that had only 1 other table that had finished eating, the waitress began yelling obscenities at the students and threatening them and refusing to serve them and telling them that they “didn’t want them here”. We explained the orders would not be various difficult orders, but had a simple orders of eggs and fruit. The waitress continued to yell at one of the coaches who pointed out that they are in fact open and we were patient, understanding the situation but he didn’t appreciate her language and attitude towards minors. She began serving another coach and brought sodas for them only (2 people.) As I sat and was fully informed of the situation by the students and adults (I was in the back of the group) I feared for the quality of food and treatment of our students. I removed my students from the building who were at no point loud, rude, etc. The coach that did have a soda requested to pay for his drinks but was told, “No. I’m canceling your order. Get the f* out of my restaurant.” We went to Waffle House next door and were greeted with a “Welcome! Hello! Happy to have you!” She received a $300 tip on a $263 bill. As a former server myself and restaurant owners in the party, we have never been treated so poorly by a location. If they had an issue with the party size, say when I call ahead. No students should be verbally assaulted for walking into an open and almost empty location to try and get eggs and fruit. Im appalled and saddened for...
Read moreI would not recommend this Denny's to anyone. I don't know if all Denny's are run this way or just this one but this is the worst Denny's to do delivery, pick-up, or dine-in. I've been to this location way more than once and each time the customer service just gets worst. I walked in waiting for a DoorDash, and as I walked in a lady said "We'll be with you in one second." Truth be told, I wasn't waiting one second. I was waiting 1200 seconds (I was standing there for 20 minutes). I proceeded to tell the employees which order I was there for after waiting some time with no help. The employee I talked to replied with, "You're gonna have to wait because we're pretty busy." So then I replied with, "Well, that would've been nice to know because I want to make more money and I could've just declined the order if it was going to be an unpredictable wait time. The same lady who told me I was going to have to wait camr back around and said under her breath to another employee, "you better bag that DoorDash because I'm not dealing with this shit today." And, after the employee said this, the manager came around the corner and stared at me. So, I told her, "I'm just here for a DoorDash for Aiden." And, she said, "As you can see we're very busy and it'll be some time before we can get that for you." She started raising her voice at me and treating me like a minority so I told her, "I'm happy to leave. I'll pick up another order." And, she said, "THANK YOU!" Very disrespectfully. Overall, I would've Ben perfectly fine just picking up a different order but no one would even tell me ho2 long the wait time is. I just really wish customer service was a lot better because experiences like these make me want to just not even leave my house.
