We went to Lake Havasu to visit our favorite Mexican Restaurant however they were closed! They always post when they are going to be closed however they didn’t today. After looking my daughter found Rusty’s so we decided to give it a try. When we first went in I wasn’t so sure about the lady that greeted and seated us but they were very busy. Our waitress was amazing and was there before we all got seated to give us menus and take drink orders. My daughter and her friend said the Rubin sandwich was the best they ever had and they could tell the sauce was definitely homemade! I had an omelet with chili, breakfast potatoes and had the biscuit and gravy with it! This place is definitely what we called a “whole in a wall restaurant” growing up back East. As we watched the food come out we were surprised at the sizes of the meals……there is no way anyone can say they left this restaurant hungry! As we got ready to leave we found out talking to regular customers that the lady seating customers is actually the owner and “ one of the hardest working, professional people that they know!” Being as busy as they were and trying to make sure everyone got seated as soon as possible I understood why I wasn’t sure of my first impression. The service was great and the food was definitely home style cooking! For the people that want typical restaurant cooking I recommend you go to Denny’s or some where else then the food won’t seem just alright to you! Also being a small local type restaurant in a resort area one has to remember that they aren’t always going to be able to make you feel like you’re a regular there especially if they are as busy as today. This is now our second favorite place to eat in Lake Havasu and it’s definitely a locals favorite spot too! We highly recommend “Rusty’s” especially if you are...
Read moreIn town visiting family tried Rustys. Reviews were good and I was craving chicken fried steak.... We had a large order. There are 8 of us. We called the order in and after going through all the orders first we ordered 2 order of the chicken fried steaks. The woman who answered the phone and took our order informed us that the chicken fried steak was actually a "hamburger " patty. We were a bit confused but after spending a half an hour trying to get everyone's order right we decided to try it since we were hungry. Got the food back to the house and was less than impressed. Reviews said food was large portions. Some of it was some of it not. Pancakes seemed to be good (the kids liked them but how can you mess up pancakes). Chicken fried steak was actually a steak. A very tough steak. But sadly that was the best to say about the chicken fried steak. Ok I am a salt person. I salt everything. The chicken fried steak was so salty to even me that it was inedible. Same thing with some of the hashbrowns. Too salty to even eat. $15 for a tough un edible chicken fried steak? Rustys is a place we will NOT be...
Read moreWhen I first moved to Havasu I found this place and it was great. My favorite thing to order is the chicken salad sandwich, which usually costs about $12 and some change. But I went there today and ordered my usual with a cup of soup as my side (instead of fries). I went to pick it up and the total was almost $18. I asked if there was an extra charge for the soup or something ridiculous and she said that it was $1.30 or something like that. I told her that I have always paid like $13 for the food and she just looked at me and didn't even say anything. First of all, I don't think I have ever been charged anywhere for substituting soup for fries, and second, it's one thing to raise your prices but $5????? Then to top it off, when I got home the tiny little cup of soup was only filled half way - I have seen sides of ranch have more in it, and my sandwich had a little scoop of chicken salad that barely even covered the bread when i spread it out. This place has really taken a turn for the worst. Definitely...
