Julia donuts & coffee 2 — Restaurant in Lake Jackson

8/20/23 update. Found this visit to be noteworthy as it was my first visit to either Julia Donuts that wasn’t exceptional. Maybe I’ve been spoiled, but the care for detail was lacking today. The chocolate covered were upside down in the bag leaving most of the chocolate on the bag- the Apple fritter was cold and missing flavor. I asked for a kolache to be warmed just a little- it was microwaved until the bread texture was a rubber band and served so hot it could have heated a volcano … tough beat. Hope this was a one off and not the future.

So the baker gets here early… and the shop opens at 4! If you’re lucky enough to come enjoy donuts hot off the line- wowzers they do it right!! Opens at 4:30 but will not have full menu available. Tried both a Kolache and the blueberry donuts. The kolache was fine. Good even but nothing special. However, those blueberry donuts are ridiculous fresh out of the oven. My wife quickly nuked some as well a couple hours after purchase and they were still excellent (according to her). I'll try the other donuts but honestly....I'm just looking forward to more...

I come here mostly every morning before work and get the same thing and nobody ever questions me about what I get until this lady took my order, all the other ladies in there are so polite but if you don’t like people you shouldn’t be working at the front counter.
