Service was absolutely the worst I have experienced in lake jackson, maybe ever. Waitress did not take our order for over 15 minutes and we had to flag down someone else (our original waitress came over to see if we had ordered 30 min after we had arrived….). They were out of chicken. They had no chips.
We ordered food and at 35 min from when we ordered, we asked when food was going to arrive and were told another 10 minutes. So we left and got the food to go. When we got the food home (20 min after we decided to get it to go instead of dine in), I opened the boxes and literally almost cried. The food was thrown together, looked terrible, and was greasy / inedible.
What a horrible horrible experience. I would never recommend them, I will likely never eat there again.
No apology from our waitress about how long it took either. We paid full price if not more for our food because they even messed our kids orders up.

For two people !!! TOOK A HOUR TO GET FOOD !!! Worst services !!!! 3 tables came in after us got there food and chips Queso and salsa & food and ate and left why we was still waiting . I had to get up and ask about our chips and Queso.. The girl kept apologizing for everything and other tables . Food trashed not real good Mexican food place .. fajita meat is not good HAD WAY BETTER !!! I don’t recommend this place ! Tea is outrageous price $ 7 something dollars for two tea”s . I enjoyed one of the best breakfast tacos I’ve had in a very long time. I was strolling the square in Lake Jackson and saw a mural of a lady on a building. I’m happy my curiosity was peaked, I stumbled into Nena’s Restaurant and the home of the Hippo! I met Nena’s granddaughter who told me about the restaurant and her grandmother. They’ve been in business for 45 years and the place is owned by Nena’s daughter.
I tried the Hippo…it is HUGE and so damn good. All of the flavors worked and the salsa on top had just the right heat and spice. This place serves up great food and the service is great...
