No bark or smoke ring on the fatty brisket my husband got which made the flavor it could have had non existent. The (mashed) potato salad had a chemical taste to it and the sausage skin was so thick and dry it was like plastic. Iam guessing it was collagen skins they used, but not sure. Hubby said they were like survival sticks. The ribs were ok but were a bit dry and lacked a smoky taste like they were really barbecued. The small hot wing dip should be listed as a sample size and it was so dry I don't think it should be called dip. We had to break it up into peices and place it on the chips, then mash it down a lil to get it to stick . Even then the flavor was just not there. I got a loaded potato with brisket and it was also lacking flavor, salt helped some but Iam not sure what was going on. There was a lot of liquid in the bottom of the potato and I was thinking melted butter but if that's what it was it was not real butter. They drizzled sour cream over the potato instead of a scoop or two. Looked pretty in a fancy way but wasn't that much. It could have used more but it was hard to tell with the way it was applied. It cost additional for chives which were actually chopped green onions , not chives. And who charges extra for green onions on a loaded potato? The Watermelon crawl cocktail, tortilla chips that came with the so called dip and the green beans that needed a lil more seasoning were the best part of the meal. In total it was not worth the price, at all. Service was great, decor super cute. I had scoped this place out on google maps/reviews and was looking forward to it. But we have so many more better barbecue places around here, sadly I don't see any reason we would go back to the...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in for lunch today (2/22/20). There is an area out front with corn hole boards, large Jinga blocks, and three of the games where you try to land a ring on a hook, the ring is tied to a string. The string is long and you have to spin it just right. The only bummer was that only one of the three had the actual string and ring, the other two had the strings cut. None the less we gave it a few tries, and gave up since we obviously are no good at that game, and some kids were waiting to give it a go. We sat down to eat and everyone we encountered here was amazing and so nice! It was a beautiful day to eat outside, so we did. They have an indoor and outdoor option. My wife had a bbq baked potato, and I tried a three meat plate with brisket, ribs, and burnt ends. The brisket was amazing, perfect smoke rings and perfect pull to it. Not too hard to pull and not falling apart. Plus I always seem to get brisket pieces from the fatty side and not the flat, here I got the delicious flat that was cut in perfect portions. I did only get one rib where normally with a plate you would receive at least two. I also got burnt ends that were amazing in taste! While we were eating our waitress brought over a side of mac and cheese, said when the cook gave me mine, it was from the bottom of an older batch and this one was fresh. Although I thought it tasted great I really appreciated it. It was very good. We had a very nice experience and will be returning, I know I have seen and heard a few bad reviews myself from this place, but I always like to make my own mind up. I think you would be pleased if you came in and...
Read moreThe Fill Station is one part bar, and one part bbq. The Fill Station is a remodeled gas station in Lake Jackson, Tx, with two large garage doors welcoming you into the main bar area. The liquor selection is appropriately large and I believe focusing mainly on whiskeys. You can sit at the bar, at one of the few tables inside or you can get some fresh air by eating out on the patio. The bbq is served from a refitted food trailer to the side of the patio area and serves rather great bbq. Two of the owners of the Fill Sation are the sons of Brian's Bbq owner and founder, so you can expect the same quality of food as Brian's, with a few additions to the menu including an amazing mac and cheese and a unique rice dish. The restaurant is different in that from 11 to 3 you order your food directly from the kitchen and they will call out when your order is ready, but after it transforms into a waited staff restaurant, where you can sit down and order from the waitresses and waiters. The restaurant is typically busy from approximately 11 to 2, and then again from 5 to 7. Perfect place for a quick bite, but also a fantastic new hangout spot in Lake Jackson, where you can come to let off some steam and enjoy a cold beer with a few friends....
