Last week, me and my husband came back from our Sunday morning walk around downtown Lake Oswego, with a bit of a bitter taste in our mouth. As long time Lake Oswego residents, we feel lucky to share this amazing neighborhood with friendly people and a number of wonderful restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, and other small business. Over time, the business owners will know you by name and vice versa. On Sunday, we were excited to come across Morse, a coffee shop we had visited before, but had receded in our memory because it's located on the opposite side of A Ave, where we normally visit shops between A Ave and Millennium Park. Before taking a walk and visiting Morse, we had stopped earlier in the morning for coffee at Peet's and I still had a Peet's cup in my hand. However, my husband was interested in a latte from Morse and placed his order. A few minutes later his drink was ready and we sat at one of their tables, with me finishing my Peet's coffee and my husband starting on his Morse latte. There were several empty tables around and a few people about to order at the counter. Almost immediately, someone from Morse approached us and asked us to "roll" as they pointed to my Peet's coffee cup. Honestly, we were surprised and didn't initially understand what was happening. When we asked him what he meant by "you need to roll", we began to understand his rude directive. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this business! To say we drink a ton of coffee and espresso drinks is an understatement, and we enjoy supporting local and friendly small businesses. But the idea of ambushing a customer, who happens to inadvertently walk in the door with a cup from another local business and directing them to leave is rude, surprising and unsettling. We will never go back and will share our experience with friends and family. In my book this business gets an "F" in Customer Service 101! We will never return and will encourage friends and family to avoid this business. Do yourself a favor and visit Peet's located about a block away (great service and great coffee and...
Read moreVery clean and modern, I love the ambience. You can tell they take a lot of pride in their shop. I think it was one of the owners who helped me and she was super helpful. She pointed out the specials menu which had me get 2 beverages because I wanted all the things.
I ended up with a sparkling peach matcha (a special) and a vanilla oatmilk latte (based on a previous review). Both were absolutely delicious and I could not decide which I liked more. The latte is handcrafted and not a mass produced style latte. 'Made with love' was a great description previously used.
That matcha peach sparkler I had never experienced before and want that year round. It was incredible! I hope it stays or can I order it off menu, like a secret menu only the cool kids know about (haha!). Peach was delicious and not overly sweet. The bubbles light and refreshing.
One thing my friend noticed was the oatmilk had a grainy texture. It didnt bother us at all, but she is a big texture person. It is normal for oatmilk to do that, so don't be alarmed if you experience that.
10/10 would recommend.
I will be back for pastries (they looked delicious) and more drinks....
Read moreThis shop was recommended to me by a friend of a friend. I found the coffee to be delicious and USUALLY the service to be friendly and efficient. I try to come in once a week. Today will probably be my last day. It was a crowded Friday morning. I ordered my americano and found a table in the back room (it had a reserved sign on it but I thought I would wait there until a table or place opened up). My coffee arrived and the owner (I think he's the owner) said the tables were reserved. I apologized and asked if there were any other places open. He said the counter behind me or the counter in the front. I moved to the counter behind me upon which he asked me "Is everything good?" I responded yes, I will stand at the counter. He then said abruptly "We're done here." Took my coffee and threw it out returned my $5 and told me to leave. Weird. Not sure if he was having a specifically bad day or not. But I don't need to be treated in that way and I guess he has plenty of other customers so they don't need my patronage. It is disappointing, because I really do like...
