The Pines — Restaurant in Lake Stevens

I recently moved to Lake Stevens and had read great things about the Pines (I had already been to LJ's and was blown away there). I decided to swing by for a quick drink since I had one of those rare hours to kill.

First impression: A very nice place with the perfect balance of class and comfort. Big fan of the low lighting, bar setup, seating, etc. I grabbed a seat at the bar and chatted with the bartender Brandon for a bit. This was a busy night, and I was amazed at how fast and efficient both he and the rest of the team was. More importantly, Brandon makes a world class cocktail. He is also extraordinarily knowledgeable in this area. I am pretty picky about my old fashioned, but he made one of the best I've ever had. I didn't have much time that evening but I told him I'd come back with my wife the following Saturday for date night.

Second impression: On Saturday my wife and I dressed up and went to the Pines again, as planned. We had dinner and plenty of drinks. Brandon was there again to wow us with his expertise. His Manhattan was just as good as old fashioned. In fact, he even made an old fashioned with a creative twist of his own making which was every bit as good as the well-loved classic.

In summary: This is a great place and it has a top notch Bartender in Brandon. Give him a raise---Do whatever it takes to keep him there forever. If I was opening up a classy joint myself, I would stop in and try to hire him for whatever price I could manage. Can I just start off by saying WOW! I think this is as of tonight my favorite restaurant! And I’ve been to a lot of local restaurants. I’m a total foodie and avid cook so I feel like I know my way around quality dining and cuisine! This was it! First off the service started off amazing, nice, welcoming friendly and accommodating! We were sat and greeted by another server who was so personable and energetic! Amazing service so sweet but I didn’t get her name! Dark hair! We started off with the loaded fries and omg how decedent! The fries were perfection with crispy brisket and creamy velvety cheese sauce with a luxury gravy dipping sauce, yum! I ordered the bangers and Brussels spin off of bangers and mash. So good! Brussels we’re tender but had a perfect bitey crunch and the bangers were just tender and flavorful! My fiancé ordered the burger and subbed the fries for the creamy Brussels with bacon sage sauce and holy cow it looked good! And for dessert we got the frangipan cake/pie (spelling?) with raspberry couliee and Chantelly cream (fancy whip cream) it was awesome recipe but I’m not a huge almond fan but good for an almond lover. I got the chocolate torte with the rum raisin ice cream. Rich and so tasty! We also got a scoop of the seasonal sorbet (peach cinnamon) so amazing! All over Amazing 10/10 experience. Order through GRUBHUB many hours ago. GRUBHUB notification says we would not be getting our food til after 5pm. We accepted this. 15 minutes before 5pm we get a call from GRUBHUB driver telling me the restaurant doesn't have our order ready and that the restaurant doesn't have the necessary ingredients to complete our order. We ordered the jerk chicken, butter chicken, and the famous cake. This unacceptable! Do not advertise on GRUBHUB if you are not going to fullfill the orders presented to you. We waited hours only to be dissapointed with no food and now we have to scramble to order something else. The Pined has wasted our time and money. Congratulations on losing a potential customer. And yes you do advertise on GRUBHUB because your restaurant is on it. We have screen shots so don't waste my time lying. It just makes you look bad. Especially when you type in caps.
