THE WORST EXPERIENCE FOR A FAMILY OF 7!!! PLEASE READ!
I waited to go into the restaurant to get seated while having my parents be about a minute behinds us traveling from home. Our ETA was a 1 minute difference.
I went inside and the worst Customer service personnel is what I’ve encountered in my 20 years of visiting various restaurants from 1-5 stars.
We had a party of 4 adults and 2 kids and 1 newborn! The 2 adults(my parents) were not physically there so the snobby lady tells me that they cannot seat me because(she points to a paper on the wall) if the whole party is not there they cannot seats us. I explained “ they’re like a minute away they’re going to be here” she commenced to point and tell me their house rule of not being able to seat the party unless all party was present.
This is while there is literally 1 family in the whole entire restaurant sitting down. I could understand if it was way busy. Im a human and I can acknowledge when one can get upset towards petty things but how are you going to not seat a family with 2 young children and a mom with a newborn standing while no one is inside besides a family of 4!??!! I don’t get it!
I will say that’s the last time this family visits that business! I’ve never heard of such rule, times are tough and business can’t even manage to bring in customers or keep their restaurants afloat… this is one way to help that issue for this business. This review will not only be the only way I express my experience I will 100% be going to social media to inform future customers of what awaits them upon walking in the door!
DO BETTER URUAPAN! (Management in case you’re wondering and want to see for yourself the interaction and how empty this restaurant was that day, try a time stamp of around 10:00AM on June 18, 2024) PISS POOR PERFORMANCE!
By the way the Nuevo León on 26th and Lawndale is a place to go to so you don’t wait, they will sit you right away party...
Read moreI recently had the chance to dine at Carnitas Uruapan, a restaurant known for its authentic Mexican carnitas. My experience was a bit of a mixed bag, leading me to rate it a middle-of-the-road 3 out of 5 stars.
Starting with the positives, the carnitas themselves were quite impressive. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful, with a nice balance of crispness on the outside. It's clear why this dish is a crowd favorite and the restaurant's signature. I also enjoyed the accompanying salsas, which added the right amount of spice and flavor.
The ambiance of the restaurant was casual and lively, fitting the style of a traditional Mexican eatery. It felt welcoming, and the aromas coming from the kitchen were tantalizing.
However, there were aspects that didn't quite hit the mark for me. While the carnitas were delicious, the rest of the menu seemed somewhat limited. I would have liked to see a wider variety of dishes or side options. Also, the tortillas served with the carnitas were a bit disappointing - they felt a little too generic and didn’t quite match the quality of the meat.
Service was another area where my experience was mixed. While the staff was friendly, the service felt rushed, and I noticed a few tables around me experiencing longer wait times. I understand that the restaurant can get busy, but it did impact the overall dining experience.
In terms of value, I found the pricing to be fair for the quantity of food, but the overall quality and variety didn’t quite justify a higher rating.
In summary, Carnitas Uruapan offers delicious carnitas that are definitely worth trying, but the overall dining experience leaves some room for improvement. It's a decent choice if you're in the area and have a craving for carnitas, but I wouldn't consider it a must-visit destination based on...
Read moreI recently visited Carnitas Uruapan in the Lower West Side neighborhood of Chicago, also known as La Villita or Little Village. This vibrant area is the heart of the city's Mexican-American community.
As soon as I stepped into the small, unassuming storefront, the mouthwatering aroma of slow-cooked pork filled the air. Carnitas Uruapan specializes in the Michoacán style of carnitas - succulent chunks of tender pork simmered for hours in fat until they practically melt in your mouth.
I ordered the carnitas dinner platter which came heaped with a generous portion of pork, rice, refried beans, salsa, and freshly made corn tortillas. The meat was simply perfect - rich, juicy and flavorful with delightfully crispy edges. I assembled little tacos with a squeeze of lime and their zesty salsa verde. Pure porky bliss!
The service was warm and efficient. While the space itself is simple, it's all about the food here which absolutely shines. Tucked near Piotrowski Park, Carnitas Uruapan is an absolute gem serving up some of the best carnitas in all of Chicagoland. If you're craving authentic Mexican food in the Windy City, make a beeline to this Little Village institution stat. Your taste buds...
