Alfarsi just recently opened up but it’s already shaping up to be a strong contender for great Persian fare in the city. We visited for a weekend lunch and ordered the hummus, baba ghanoush, muhammara, boneless chicken wrap, and the lamb koubideh entree. The standouts were hands down the lamb koubideh and muhammara. The koubideh was bursting with flavors and impressively juicy. Paired with fluffy and fragrant rice, it was a delightful dish. The muhammara struck a perfect balance between sweet and tangy, lightly smoky with a pleasant texture. The baba ghanoush was also great: smoky and garlicky with a refreshing subtle tartness from the lemon and a texture that landed nicely between smooth and chunky. The hummus was a bit bland, needing more garlic, lemon juice, and salt. The chicken wrap was skimpy on the chicken and had lots of lettuce as filler. The chicken itself had some nice charred bits but was a tad dry and could also have used more seasonings.
All in all, Alfarsi shows a lot of promise. Once they’ve had time to settle in and fine-tune a few details, they would be...
Read moreA great place to meet friends for a casual but delicious dinner.
Ordered at the counter, food brought to to the table as it was plated. Every dish arrived with thoughtful attention to presentation, like a tomato slice folded in half to resemble a flower petal. Reasonable prices. 3% credit card processing fee clearly displayed before ordering. Our kind host/server added a 6th falafel (5 per order) so everyone could have one.
Appetizers: Excellent falafel. Freshly fried, crispy exterior, soft and chewy interior. I'll come back just to try the falafel wrap. If you like feta, try the roasted feta cheese which came on a plate of roasted tomatoes and onions with olive slices and a side of Persian flat bread.
Entree: The Alfarsi Kabob Combo #1 with ground lamb kabob and chicken kabob were flavorful and expertly grilled with a light char. The rice with dill and grilled tomato slices were good flavor and texture complements to the grilled meat.
Will save room for dessert and...
Read moreI am a fan of Persian food honestly and till date I haven’t found a place that hits the spot. I guess this is normal. Let’s dig deep into Farsi. Service is awesome, very fast ,kind and friendly. Since I’m an interior designer the atmosphere was average. Table setting was good. Restroom needs to be upgraded though. Food quality is awesome, clean and fresh. That’s not my problem for not a 5 star. For example rice quantity to the lamb kobedeh ratio is small. If my memory serves me well, Persian lamb doesn’t have parsley. Iranian bread I was served tasted like a burrito. The yoghurt drink was more thick than what I remember Persian yoghurt tastes like. Overall it’s good. For a person looking for authentic classic Persian food (like me) it would be a disappointment. For the sake of giving the owners the praise for making their own style of mixing Arab and Persian cuisine then yes that’s a success. 4 stars because of the cleanliness, freshness and the welcome attitude. Wishing you...
