My group of 4 went in after a Cubs game on 7/6/2025 and ordered drinks on the patio, we were then told that they were closing the patio so we had to go inside, which we did in a room next to where the main bar is. At 10:30pm on a Sunday ( the website says it’s open till 2:00am) we went up to the bar to order another drink, the bartender told us we couldn’t because they already called last call and we missed it, we were okay with that and headed back to our table to get our belongings when we noticed she proceeded to pour drinks for others. We asked her about it and she was very rude, she called her bouncer who was also rude. We were not drunk or rude we legit wanted to know why others were being served after she told us we couldn’t because last call was done. We used to go to Bernie’s all the time when we had season tickets and thought it would be a fun way to end our night. We are older in our 50’s maybe that was the problem, because we weren’t 20 something’s like the people she kept serving. It’s a shame the way they were so rude. I didn’t get the bartenders name but the bouncer is Ron. Obviously We will never be going back there. They don’t want our service anyway. If you want to be treated poorly then I would recommend going here, if not then as the bartender told me there are several other bars around. A great one is Sluggers, Tin Roof provides live music always a fun time there. Yak-Zies has friendly bartenders and amazing wings, Murphys is always a good choice. The Cubby Bear is a fun spot too. She was right about having other options I thank her for that recommendation. Bernie’s is a definite thumbs down. Thank god we only gave them money for 1 drink and didn’t waste anymore money there. We did end up going to a bar a few blocks away on Southport called Langes they were extremely welcoming the bartender there Amanda is so very friendly every time we’ve been there and always happy to see us. That is how you should be treated when spending hard earned money at an establishment. I hope this review helps customers and I hope Bernie’s management sees this and maybe offers its employees customer friendly training. Update. I’ve also tried to reach out to management and have gotten no reply or acknowledgment of my emails. I guess they just really don’t care. That’s a shame since they are in a business That relies...
Read moreI can’t speak about the bar specifically bc I never got in. The door guy refused to accept a state issued temporary id. It’s a legal document issued by the state of NC. It literally has my picture. I even bought my voter registration which has both my birthday and my address which matched the id. I’m 30 years old. I can see if it was like a 22 year old. What kid with a fake is going to claim 30 lmao. I barely want to admit I’m 30. Lol
To add even more insult to injury he is like do you have the physical copy? What kind of stupid question Is that? If I had the physical copy why would I be using the temporary lmao. My luggage went missing at o hare so my license is currently wherever my luggage is.
It’s a shame bc from the outside looking in it looked like a fun bar. Interesting enough the bar next door lost never found(an upscale bar vs Bernie’s dive bar aesthetic) accepted the Id...
Read moreThe bartender Maddie and bouncer were very rude and entertained their group of friends at the expense of my friend on her birthday by constantly gawking at her shoes and snickering amongst themselves. We overheard several rude comments about my friend, none of which they even attempted to hide. We brought a party of 12 in on a dead night and the bouncer couldn’t even be bothered with taking a group picture with the lame response of “I’m eating.” Sorry, eat before your shift or go to your designated break room away from patrons. The bouncer finally assisted us after Maddie yelled at him to do so. This place has slipped from how it used to be and it’s sad. We had significantly more patrons in our group willing to spend money until the staff soured us....
