Trace — Restaurant in Lake View Township

After our first game of summer beach volleyball, our team of about 10 ppl went to this league sponsor bar. We were all having a good time, watching the Olympics opening ceremony on the TVs, when suddenly (around 11pm) the bar staff started to take away chairs and tables that were not in use (even though this is a 4am bar). We had 4 tables and we weren't really using the 4th one so they went ahead and removed it, fine.

Then they came back and wanted to take away the remaining 3, which we were clearly using for our drinks and food (we had gotten pizzas from next door). After some questioning, they said they would only leave 1 table which would only be big enough for the pizza and we'd all have to stand around. I did not hear them mention anything about moving downstairs.

At this point, we no longer felt welcomed, closed our tab(s), and vowed not to return. Had our 3 tables not been rudely taken away, we would have continued to support this establishment. My star rating has nothing to do with the establishment or the people working behind the bar. Tim was great and welcoming and was knowledgeable about what he was pouring. The service was great. I am a chef in chicago and I never try to play that card. I treat all employees with respect first and foremost. But the methods applied by security were insane. I actually left only to retrieve my pocket knife. I returned and subjected myself to a violating tap down. You need proper etiquette at that doo4. It was offensive and off putting from the jump. Do not go to this place. They completely scammed my friend and then tried to intimidate us to get us to leave. Two sketchy ass idiots who "worked" at the bar sat at the front and swiped my friend's card when he put it down to pay for his drinks. When we tried to confront them, one of them left abruptly and the other tried to fight us. Super professional. Then staff got their bouncer after they refused to talk to us about the incident or show us the security footage. It was clear that all of the staff was in on the scam.
