THIS STORE OPENLY ENCOURAGES AND CONDONES RACIAL PROFILING OF AFRICAN-AMERICANS! If you support everyone's right to equal protection under the law by way of the 14th amendment of the Constitution in addition to that of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 DO NOT give this place any business. This past Friday I went to this establishment. I was being followed and harassed by a man who was there to watch the floor. This man was African-American. He would stare me down. Yell at me. Tell me I'm making a mess when I would examine an item and neatly put it back on the rack. I went to the front where the four cashiers were. They were all white. I made a complaint about the man making me feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed. They said they would tell "Marshall" to "lay off". So I went back to looking at the items. This same man, Marshall, who I just complained about still kept following me and staring me down. I went back to the front and complained again. They then said "We'll talk to him." Now mind you it's a lot of people in the store and I'm the ONLY black male in there patronizing the store. And even though there are plenty of people in there I noticed how the people at the front had ample time between business transactions to reprimand this man who was PROFILING me. I go back to the floor to look at the items a third time and the same man once again is still staring me down with a stern look in his face and still peeping into any aisle I'm in to keep track of me. I once again go to the front to complain. And one of the white people at the front tells me "Just disregard it." In other words "get over it". I was taken aback by this overt RACIAL PROFILING. I was even more shocked at how nonchalant these white people were about violating my civil rights. I left the store in disgust. And of course as I walked out that same man Marshall was staring me down. So basically what the white people who work at Sports World do is hire black males to racially profile any black male who goes into that store. His job is also to make them feel uncomfortable so that they won't want to come back again. Well you know what you got your wish. I won't ever go back to that place. But my message to those people is: Be careful because you are playing with fire. One of these days you all are going to catch a lawsuit. And seeing how you all are right across the street from Wrigley Field I highly doubt that the Cubs organization would want that kind of bad press. And to think Wrigleyville is supposed to be one of Chicago's epicenters of liberalism and progressiveness. And for anybody who will try to rationalize me being profiled by bringing up isolated events of young black males committing crimes in Wrigleyville, just know that what happened to me took place towards the end of a Cubs game. Read moreAvoid ordering from this place. Here is my journey so far and no follow up to date: I placed a custom order on 11/6/24, my credit card was charged. I continously watched my order status that didn't change for an entire month. I waited in the phone queue over 15 minutes after calling several times just to get pushed into the voice mail that was full so you couldn't leave a message. When I finally spoke to someone on 12/5, I was told the kit was received and my order should be received by 12/16. I checked order status again on 12/13, no change. I sat in the phone queue for 40 minutes before reaching a person named Julius. He stated he would refund me 10 percent off of the original order due to the long wait time. He agreed, yes, order will be shipped on 12/16 and he guaranteed me priority shipping. On Monday, 12/16, absolutely no status update and no shipment email. I spoke to someone on 12/17 to explain my situation and told them at this point, I want a full refund. The female receptionist told me no one was available to talk, but someone will call me back within 24 hours. I got no return phone call or email. I called back on 12/18. Again, I was told by a female representative someone will contact me within 24 hours. I stated no one does, I want to speak to someone that has the power to move this forward, she said no one is available. She said they will get back to all the calls and emails based on when they came in. I said why do I have to wait since I have been waiting since November? She told me I need to email customer service to get help. Bottomline, this was supposed to be a Christmas gift that I ordered in November. At this point, because of the false promises from this company, it is too late for me to order something different elsewhere. Update: After emailing customer service, after 24 hours, I got a response that said my order will be shipped out as soon as possible. I replied to cancel my order and refund me in full. At this point, I reached out to my credit card company for help and worked with the dispute department. After another 24 hours, I got a separate customer service response stating the Nike apparel was never received by them and asked if I want to get a discount or cancel. I responded, "clearly no one talks to each other, cancel my order and refund me in full." All the wrote back was, "ok." I read all the negative reviews yet still tried my luck and ordered a custom jersey (which was quite expensive), as I did see some people with positive experiences. I know on the website it says it will take about 3 weeks to get the order, however it has been 2 weeks already and my order still says "awaiting fulfillment" and I have received no update emails. I have also left multiple (4 or 5) messages using the form on their website but have not heard anything back from any of them. Furthermore I have tried calling the store multiple times, but no one has ever picked up my calls. And what is even worse is in the message at the end it says to leave your name and number so they can call you back, however the message box is full, so I probably will never get a call back. After this experience definitely will not be ordering from Sports World Chicago again. This has been a worse experience than ordering fake jerseys from China, as I have gotten more updates and emails with those orders than with this official store. I'm hoping someone will see this review and help me out, however I'm not too confident about that.
Update* It has been like two weeks since I wrote this review and still nothing has changed with my order status, it still says awaiting fulfillment. Furthermore I still have not be sent a reply from the emails I sent them. Also I have since called around 10 times, and the phone has been answered one time. I told them my issues and was told they would me an update email within 24 hours. It has now been 3 days and I still have not been sent an update email. I need this jersey for next week and know now that it will not come in time.
