I remember I first visited DMK when they opened their original location in 2009. They were THE hotness in Lakeview for elevated burgers with creative toppings. It’s so exciting that they’ve now been operating for 15 years as one of the most beloved burger joints in Chicago, still serving tasty burgers using 100% grass-fed beef patties on their signature artisanal buns. We recently had the opportunity to visit and loaded up on several menu items. Our favorites were the Big DMK, the Parmesan Truffle Fries, the Chipotle BBQ Chicken Wings and the Churro Shake. The Big DMK is their version of a Big Mac and it is massive. It comes with double grass-fed beef patties (2/3lb), American cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato and DMK sauce. This thing is juicy! We also really loved the DMK sauce. The Parmesan Truffle Fries were yummy and just one of SIX different fry styles that are available at DMK. They’ve got some other fun ones like Angry Fries and Blue Cheese & Bacon Fries. You have to appreciate a place with an impressive fry game. The Chicken Wings were plump and tender, and the Chipotle BBQ sauce was finger-licking good. Finally, I love churros, and really anything cinnamon in general, so you know when I saw their Chef’s Feature was a Churro Shake, I had to order it. Skip the straw, this thing requires a spoon! It’s filled with big dreamy chunks of churro and will melt your heart with every bite. If you’re looking for that solid burger, fry and milkshake combo, DMK is a great option. They also have a nice cocktail and beer selection, if you’re feelin’ frisky.

Trying grass fed beef burger for the first time and it was so good! Went on a Friday evening and it was full house. I went on a rainy night so wasn't expecting it to be so busy, but loved the ambiance for a Friday evening. Despite how packed it was, service was great and food didn't take long. Here's what we ordered: -sunrise burger: perfect combination of jalapeĂąo, runny egg, and bacon. It was so delicious. -big DMK: my dining mate who typically order medium rare (not sure if he did this time) said it was a bit dry. Would opt for a single patty next time -fries: Parmesan cheese & truffle cream. Need I say more? It was addicting with the burger. The cream dip made it fun to eat fries and I couldn't stop going for it. -wings & drums: blueberry bbq & buffalo. Honestly, the color of blueberry bbq was intimidating but once I got past the colors, it was sweet bbq and was tasty. I preferred blueberry bbq over buffalo, but I liked the onion strings that came with it. -Brussels sprouts: I always order Brussels sprouts whenever I can and this was crispy, yet sweet. Some places make it soggy and I hate it but this was warm in the center, crispy on the outside. It was a perfect mix w bacon, cheese, and glaze. One of my favorite. Drinks: -hibiscus refresher: so pretty in color. Not to sweet. I liked the touch of tea and lemon flavor, that wasn't too strong in tea flavor Buzzin: I like gin so I ordered. Not as sweet as hibiscus drink but it was a good one to finish off my meal.

This place was my favorite burger joint. But I will not return to eat here. It was always more expensive, and the portions were small, but the ingredients were good and the patty was perfection. That said, something happened in the last year and the ingredients stop being good as they used to, and the burgers are always overcooked. I update my 5 stars to 1 after getting a "well-done" patty twice while asking them not to overcook it. Without the burger being tasty this place is just an overpriced, small portions low quality overcooked burger joint. What a disappointment. Update 2022: Last time I was here the burger was disappointing in the sense that it was way overcooked. I'm hoping it was a one time thing and so giving this place the benefit of the doubt for now. Older review 2020-2021: Best burger I had in years! Ordered the Grass-Feed Beef with the chili-rubbed onion and amish blue cheese (#2). I was a bit hungry after since the portion isn't that big (if you you are not a big eater this will be perfect for you), but the price was just. Second time ordered the other Grass-Feed Beef (#1) and loved it. Because I knew I would probably want something extra I also ordered the wings (blue BBQ) which were a let down (not the sauce fault, just not good wings). They work together with Fish Bar in a way you can seat in the Fish Bar balcony and order from DMK, which I did 👍

This place was definitely the highlight of our dining experience in the Windy City and has become a staple of many conversations about Chicago since leaving. Who would have known a burger, fries and milkshake could make such an impact, WOW. We(my wife and I) were visiting from New Orleans, we came across DMK while searching for places we had decided to try while we were Chicago, what a Bullseye it was. I tell Everyone that this place was intentionally screwing with your head, the moment you ingest the 1st morsel it starts. Your brain starts questioning, can this shake actually be this good? head and shoulders above the best shake I've ever had? Then comes the burger and fries, a head job I'm telling you. Each ingredient used to compose this work of art was specifically chosen to enhance the other ingredient it shared space with, we are still talking about a burger and fries. Simply amazing, my father was a chef and a restaurant owner in Houston, he taught me how to appreciate great food and dining. 1st He said to always start your servers with a $10.00 tip, it can go up or down depending on service, 2nd many cars at an establishment means many great things, 3rd never reseason out the kitchen, you pay them to make it delicious out the kitchen, sauce on a steak, that's a no no! DMK was spot on. MY tip was half my bill, there were no salt and pepper shakers or any condiments on the table, Great out the kitchen, they knew what they were doing. No I don't work there, no I don't know anyone who does but I do know good food and it's definitely there at DMK BEST DAMN BURGER JOINT EVER!!! 😍 PLEASE SEND ME A BURGER AND SOME TRUFFLE FRIES WITH THAT DELICIOUS PUMPKIN SHAKE. I Don't drink but my wife does and she stated BEST TOP SHELF MARGARITA EVER

Sincerely A Fan, Michael and Gigi Slidell, La

If you're a burger enthusiast, DMK Burger Bar in Lakeview is a must-try! With a wide array of options, including gluten-free items, they cater to a variety of dietary needs—a major plus! Their 100% grass-fed beef, bison, and turkey burgers served on artisanal buns are not only delicious but made with quality ingredients. And I could tell! chefs kiss

They were featured on the Food Network and recognized as one of Chicago's most iconic burger spots, and now I see why they are a top spot when it comes to the burger scene.

What We Tried: Golden Gate Spritz & Blood Orange Loco: These were just okay/average cocktails IMO. Backyard BBQ Burger: My dad said it was juicy and flavorful. -BYOB (Build Your Own Burger): I customized mine (beef/cheese/egg/bacon/lettuce/tomato/chipotle sauce on the side) and really enjoyed it. Presentation was nice as well. Parmesan Fries with Truffle Cream: A fav! Crispy and fresh. No fry was left behind! Sweet Potato Fries with Lemon Tabasco Aioli: Pretty good, but have had better. I usually like them a bit crisper. Crispy Brussels Sprouts: Really good! The parmesan, bacon, and maple honey glaze combo was perfection. Milkshakes Cookies N Cream & Banana Chocolate): creamy/thick which was delightful because I hate “watery” shakes. Really good wrap up to the meal.

For those that like activities, DMK Burger Bar offers fun extras like trivia nights, happy hour, and even Bachelor Nation watch parties. Football game-day specials are also available for sports fans.

Overall, the food was solid, and the variety makes it worth a...
