Went to their website to place an online order for delivery. There's a $40 minimum order to get it delivered which I was happy to add a couple extra things to my cart to get to that price because I love Indian and Nepalese cuisine. But once the order had already been placed I got a notification that it was a pickup order. I assumed this was a mistake so I called the restaurant to calrify and I was told that they weren't doing deliveries... So I asked to cancel the order and receive a refund and they told me they weren't able to do that. Instead they told me to call my bank have them cancel the transaction but my bank wouldn't do that because it wasn't a fraudulent transaction. So I reluctantly walked the mile to the restaurant to get my food, when I got back my food was hot (so that's good) but my curry had began to separate and oil rose to the top. Never once have I had this problem with a takeout curry. Didn't take me long to get home so I know that was not a problem. On top of that the food wasn't good and the chicken was fatty and hard to bite through. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

I live in a small foodie town so I enjoy it when I get to a big foodie city. I am visiting my daughter in Chicago and the first day here she recommended Gorkha Kitchen for lunch. There are so many small neighborhood restaurants here but she promised me this is one of the best (it's in Lakeview). The vibe was laid back with the owners being very welcoming. I ordered the Chicken Madras and she ordered the Lamb Korma and needed it gluten free, which isn't always easy to navigate. Surprisingly, they were on top of it all and answered all her questions with ease. The real surprise was the food! My Madras was superb, a perfect mix of spicy and savory. The homemade naan was fantastic, light and buttery. She said her Korma was great....as always! The servings were a healthy size so I continued my feast a few hours later in her condo. The menu has something for everyone and anyone who needs gluten free options needs to go here. This was my first but definitely not my last time visiting them. Thank you Gorkha Kitchen!

The restaurant was bustling with customers, so we thought we had made a good choice. Then when we ordered, the staff was also very cordial. But the central part, the food, was not up to par. I love my Momo and Thakali set. These dishes represent Nepalese cuisine to the core. However, the flavor was missing, and I think they forgot to add salt to both dishes. The sauce for the momo was so bland, and the chicken momo had an overpowering taste of cabbage which was not correct. I know this because this is my go-to comfort food, and I make them at home. The place must serve something good because we saw people continuously coming in. But I wouldn’t recommend this place for its Nepalese cuisine because it doesn’t do justice to the flavors of Nepal and wouldn’t advise anyone to go if there is truly missing authentic flavorful food of Nepal.

I was really excited to see an Indian and Nepalese restaurant open up in Lincoln Park (LP). We hosted a birthday party here this past Saturday and I would host another event here again. We had ten guests and each and every single person in our group said they would come back. Izzy was our host and she was great from letting me come in before to decorate the table, to helping to make sure the group had a great time. She even offered to make things for us that were not on the menu if we wanted something specific. She was extremely easy to work with to host the event. This place is BYOB. We were also allowed to bring in some mini cupcakes to celebrate the birthday girl. It's clean on the inside and it was not loud to where it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Let's dive into the food. I would HIGHLY recommend their steamed chicken momos. We ordered three of these for the group as appetizers and everyone loved them. They were nice and juicy on the inside and tasted extremely fresh with hints of ginger and garlic and the sauce that it comes with tied it all together to make each bite perfect! TRY THE MOMOS! :) We also have tried the spicy fried chicken momos. These are also good but do have a kick to them and I cannot eat as many as the steamed ones. Another one of my favorites is the chicken kukhura (traditional Nepalese chicken curry). The chicken is on the bone but the pieces are small so manageable and some pieces have no bone. The flavor of the curry reminded me of my mum's curry with fresh cilantro and so much flavor. The rest of the table tried the lamb tikka masala, butter chicken, shrimp tikka masala, chicken kadai, and chicken biryani and everyone finished their meals. Their portions can be shared between two people, especially if you share an order of momos as an appetizer. Gorkha is one of my favorite restaurants in LP and I will continue to try new things...

I went with two friends to Ghorka Kitchen on a Saturday night. We had made reservations, but it was not filled except for the booths in this good sized, nicely decorated and clean space. I'm afraid that will change as word gets out. Though he appeared to be the only staff I saw working the room our waiter was friendly, relaxed and reasonably attentive. We had the chicken momo appetizer (steamed meat and veggie dumplings), lamb biryani (lamb and rice), and palak paneer (spinach and Indian cottage cheese) with sides of garlic naan and raita (cucumber yogurt sauce). The dishes were good sized and very good. I've had momo's before and these were very good. The house made hot sauce was amazing on them! The lamb biryani was delicious and very generous. The palak paneer (one of my favorite dishes) was tasty and went really well with the garlic naan which itself was great. None of the dishes were spicy, but were all fresh and full of flavor. I would probably ask them to make it a little hotter for my taste, but I'd rather ask to make it spicier than the other way around. The mango lassi which was as it should be, creamy and sweet, perfect for dessert. The dishes were not inexpensive but were good value for the money. The fact that it is BYOB was added value. The grand total for our meal including tip and...

Authentic Flavors and Warm Hospitality at Gorkha Kitchen

We had an absolutely delightful experience at Gorkha Kitchen in Chicago. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine warmth by the owner, a lovely lady whose friendly nature set the tone for the entire meal.

We ordered the Chicken Kadhai, Chicken Noodles, Roti, and Masala Tea, and every single item exceeded our expectations. The Chicken Kadhai was bursting with rich spices and tender chicken, perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful, which came with a side of Rice. The Chicken Noodles were another standout—generously portioned, packed with vegetables, and just the right amount of heat. The Tandoori Roti was soft and fresh, ideal for scooping up the flavorful curry. And the Masala Tea? Comfort in a cup—aromatic, soothing, and the perfect end to a hearty meal.

One of the highlights was definitely the portion size—you get great value for your money. They take pride in both their food and their hospitality. The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy, made even better by the personal attention from the owner, who made sure we were well taken care of throughout.

We’ll definitely be returning to Gorkha Kitchen and recommending it to friends. If you’re looking for delicious Indo- Nepalese cuisine with a personal touch, this place is...
