Okay here are the pros: Ambiance, some very good dishes on the menu, somewhat reasonably priced, cute gestures by the establishment: eg roses for the ladies, and most importantly: HALAL FOOD (except the beef tenderloin) Now to describe the cons. My husband and I went here for valentines day. We arrived earlier than our reservation and the patrons were kind enough to seat us straightaway. However, they gave us a table that was wedged in a row of tables, all seating couples. Normally i would not mind this, but a nearby section was completely empty and I happened to be heavily pregnant so I had to make my way through a narrow space, my tummy almost hitting the nearby couples and im sure ruining their budding romance. We soon noticed that everyone around us was using a groupon for the four course meal. Dang it, my husband and I thought. We shouldve made the reservation with a groupon too. We were still mulling over the groupon situation when the server asked us if we'd like soup or salad. We went with soup. That was the only qs we were asked about the food we wanted to have. We thought someone would take our order but somehow it was already decided that we'd be having the four course meal. The appetizer sampler we started off with was okay. Nothing special, the lentil soup was average too. The entree, which we did not pick ourselves was the persian tray for two. The lamb and chicken tenderloin were delicious, however. The dessert included tiny serving of ice creams (my pregnancy appetite desired more). The meal cost us 80 dollars and we felt we werent given our moneys worth. Especially since the 4 course meal included wine/margaritas and since we didnt take alcohol, there was nothing non alcoholic on the menu we could have instead. That was pretty strange considering the food was halal and all and the restaurant served persian food. However, all in all Id give the place a high rating , because of the entree and the ambiance. Dont forget to reserve your table with a...
Read moreThis is my first google review ever, but I felt compelled because of how amazing our experience was. The location is a cozy, romantically lit spot partially underground but with beautiful skylight windows. And the decor matches the vibe perfectly, inviting and unique. Max greeted us warmly and was eager to answer any questions about the menu or specific dishes. He suggested a wine for us to share, and brought out a vase of pink flowers for the table! We split a vegetarian platter for 2, as well as the walnut pomegranate chicken. It comes with an appetizer sampler including olive tapenade, baba ghanoush, humus, warm pita bread, potato salad, stuffed grape leaves, and a tomato cucumber salad. All amazing, refreshing, and full of flavor! As for the main course, the chicken was tender and the spices were balanced perfectly with the slight sweetness of the walnut pomegranate sauce. The vegetarian dishes were equally wonderful. Dessert included a buttery carrot pound cake with vanilla bean ice cream topped with cinnamon powder and honey. I’m sad to say that I’ve never thought of such a perfect combination. When we asked for the check, Max presented each of us with a red rose!! The service here cannot be beat, and we all left with a huge smile and a promise to come back asap. All around a memorable experience and so far my FAVORITE restaurant in the city....
