We recently placed an order for several sides, a falafel wrap, and a dessert, which totaled approximately $60, including delivery. Given the cost, we anticipated receiving generous portions. However, when the Uber driver arrived with a surprisingly small bag, we were immediately concerned about how all the items could fit into such limited space.
Upon bringing the food inside, our concerns were confirmed: one of the items we ordered was missing, and the chips, which were supposed to be salt and vinegar as requested, had been replaced with BBQ flavor. The dessert was disappointing, appearing as though it had been carelessly assembled, with the cheese, which should have been layered in the middle, crumbled and sitting at the bottom. The salad, which was described as a Mediterranean salad, looked as though the ingredients had been improperly mixed, resulting in a visually unappealing dish that was difficult to recognize as a proper salad.
The only redeeming aspect of the meal was the falafel wrap, but even that was surprisingly small. Given the quality and portion sizes, this meal felt more like a $15 experience rather than one that justified a $60 expense. Unfortunately, due to this disappointing experience, we will not be ordering from this...
Read moreThis is a post RAVING about Oasis Fresh
TL; DR Oasis Fresh has amazing food, incredible service and reasonable prices. Get the gyro salad, falafel salad, chicken schwarma wrap, cheese quesadilla and cheesecake baklava.
Ok so I ordered OF via Grubhub at 6 p.m. on a Wednesday. By 7, it still hasn’t arrived. I saw the Grubhub driver near my house in Lakeview then 15 minutes later he is at Grant Park. I’m hungry! I call Grubhub to cancel my order, they refund me, etc. I call Oasis Fresh directly to place my order. I should have asked what time it would arrive.
It’s now an hour after I called Oasis Fresh directly and still no food. They say it’ll arrive in a few minutes. At 8:30 I finally see the driver pull up. My fiancé RUNS downstairs (did I mention we are starving?) to get the food and pay. This sweet gentleman DENIES our payment and insists we take the food, since it should have arrived much sooner. He tried to pay + tip, but to no avail. Also, they gave us a free baklava cheesecake. As if I didn’t love the food enough before this instance, I DO NOW. Anyway, the staff is wonderful. Food is delicious. Customer service can’t be beat. I was a customer before, now I’m a customer forever. Thank you...
Read moreOrdered delivery on a Monday afternoon directly from the restaurant’s website (not DoorDash, etc). Food arrived nearly 2 hours after placing the order (30 minutes after the latest estimated arrival time in the delivery window). We ordered two chicken shawarma platters and a 6-falafel appetizer.
The falafel were bone dry, and quite tough. The accompanying sauce was tasty and helped some with the texture, but I felt like there wasn’t enough for 6 falafel. The portions of the shawarma & rice in the platter were quite generous, and the flavors were decent—even if the chicken was also a little dry. The portion of the “salad”, however was paltry; a few pieces of lettuce, tomato, and onion, probably less than a cup by volume total. The hummus that came with the platter was quite tasty, but the pita was tough and tasted processed, not fresh. Additionally, the platter comes with no sauce or dressing, and even a small (1.5 oz) side sauce requires a $1.50 upcharge.
Overall a disappointing experience even for delivery. Will likely be skipping this...
