I will share the same feedback I provided in the resy app.
edit: it did NOT take an hour to get a food order out of us and the owners reply implying that is a bold face lie. how i know this is because at any establishment, you order all at once so the restaurant can pace meals and be kind to servers. additionally, we were not 20 minutes late, we were 8 minutes late-again i remember that from feeling guilty at the time. Lying in a response publicly instead of just taking feedback is wild. The reply is wrong and further demonstrates unprofessionalism of this establishment. This has been a crazy negative experience.
This entire experience was very very underwhelming. As the staff has control over the pacing of plates, while bringing us food (that we all ordered at once right at the beginning) reminded us how much time was left on the reservation. The experience is that we are inconveniencing the staff and the restaurant. I understand time limits are at the discretion of the restaurant but making an entire dining experience awkward to enforce them defeats the point. Will not be returning and will not be encouraging others to frequent mfk.
The food itself is not very spectacular. Food is fine. The dinner entrees are better than the appetizers. The appetizers were a deeply disappointing beginning to the meal. The experience of the staff, the iffy appetizer and the cramped establishment just set the tone for the evening.
I hesitated to write this review. I worry that any feedback, even when constructive and in good faith, will be dismissed in a rude fashion by whoever manages mfk's socials. I would really internalize the feedback that at this cost, people expect to be treated with respect and comfort. I would recommend that at this price point, to takes one's...

But, I was especially charmed by the few poor ones sprinkled in as they had the most colorfully virulent retorts that I've ever seen. Due to this combination of patrons' admiration and the owner's staunch defense, I knew I had to try this place!
"Cocktails...food, so how were they???" Both ASTOUNDINGLY IMPRESSIVE while inconspicuously positioned around 4am industry bars. Honestly, this is one of the most satisfying dinners I've ever had at a restaurant in my life, and I actively look for such experiences.
The Admin, Saturn, Sour Grapes, and Back Forty were the tried cocktails between a friend and me and were all very dialed in on balancing flavor profiles. You could give any of these a try and be satisfied (Admin will become my spicy go-to admittedly).
As for the food, the Suzuki Bass Crudo and olives were amazing bites of food for each of us; the croquettes slayed in savoriness; and the Spanish tortilla was the best thing I've eaten in memory since I moved to Chicago a few years back. You hear me?! THE.BEST.THING.
To the ambitious and toiling owner(s), you have done nothing short of greatness! Thank you for betting on yourself and opening up this restaurant, so that underlings such as myself can have some of the best and most memorable food/cocktail experiences in a city with many options promising to provide the same (oftentimes much more expensive and with much less substance). Seriously...SUPERLATIVE. Like it or not,...
Read moreWe ate at the chef's corner at the bar on a Saturday night... great service all around, and everyone in the kitchen was friendly as we stared and watched their preparations. My husband and I each had 2 cocktails. They were well balanced and creative. We started with the ceviche, which was small but delicious and a great way to open up our palettes. We then had the prawn heads---- we had never had anything like it before, so it was a novelty, but they were good and the sauce was delicious. I needed the bread service for the sauce! We had the beets with goat cheese next, which was underwhelming and standard... it wasn't bad, just didn't knock us out. This was followed by their specialty, which was the scallops. They were big, buttery, and out of control delicious, and priced well. A highlight for sure. We finished with the braised beef. It was super oniony but tender and delicious. Definitely heavy. We also had the basque cake which was great, but could have used some cream or ice cream. The bill was $160 ($180 with tax) so it was not cheap, but it was so good and service was on point, so we did not mind at all. I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 because the restaurant was SO HOT. When I went to the bathroom, it was 20 degrees hotter in there. We were sitting right by the kitchen, but our server told us there is poor ventilation and it's also uncomfortable in the summer. I would definitely recommend the restaurant, but advise people to layer in a way that makes taking off layers doable! We...
