6/2024:We've been coming to Moody's for years, many many times per year with our whole family; and this is the first time we did not have a good experience. This mainly was due to service, then food quality, then atmosphere. First off our table was so sticky that I couldn't even get the menu off of it until the 8th time digging my nail under to peel it off the table. Everyone was on their cell phones that even my 9 year old commented "the only person working in this place is the cook, i feel bad for him". Part of our order came out bad so they attempted to fix it which took 15 mins to get just another patty. Honestly the 2nd patty was more juicy and better cooked than the first one. Our waitress took too long to bring waters & utensils to our table. Mind you this is 5pm on Saturday and only maybe 6 tables of customers not busy for what we typically see when we come here. Then we got overcharged not once but twice i kept checking over the bill. I voiced the issues to the waitress and "manager" but nothing got corrected and they both claim they are good at their jobs. I hope they learn how to do their jobs better because as a frequent customer I was displeased. *From 10 months ago: Never had a bad time or meal at Moody's. We bring our family mainly during the summer for burgers and to sit outside in the courtyard nut also enjoy their delicious burgers during the winter indoors as well. Such an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreACTUALLY THIS IS A ZERO STAR REVIEW... We had been infrequently coming here for a very long time (having moved 2 hrs. away over 40 years ago) but this was our FINAL visit.
During those 4 decades they have not put one penny into updating this joint.
This place is not ADA accessible (stairs from outdoor garden and front entry, and tiny bathrooms).
The dark, grungy atmosphere hints of scary things if bright lights were ever available and quite possibly the Health Dept. would intervene.
Original, inadequately-sized bathrooms were not even clean or fresh-smelling (early in the day).
Booth upholstery is ripped and patched and looked like they came from a dumpster---they certainly belong in one!
The menu claims they serve the Best Burgers in Chicago since 1959...but that may only have applied up to 35 years ago. Burgers today are unmemorable and fries were hard, thin scraps and not very appetizing.
The server was too busy on her cellphone to check in if anything was needed during our dining.
The outdoor garden may offer a much better atmosphereā¦but thereās no getting around mediocre food.
You can go anywhere else and have a better meal and dining experience.
Resting on your laurels for decades just isnāt gonna cut it anymore. Time to turn out the lights and lock the doorā¦.actually, no need to lock the doorsānothing inside is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere was a trip advisor sign in the front, but weāre not sire how it made its way there.
I went with friends for the first time. None of us plans to revisit this establishment again.
Food was subpar (we ordered burgers, salad, shrimp basket). Fries were soggy, undercooked, and all stuck together. Beer was flat, stale, barely chilled and the server made us feel bad for even asking for a new one.
Service was horrible. Our server was rude and irritable. We had asked for blue cheese on the side, it was placed right on the burger. When we mentioned to the server that we had asked for it on the side and if we can get a separate container to put it, the server dismissed us saying āIm working by myselfā, made some hand gesture and walked away.
People go to restaurants to relax and escape. We starterd our Friday evening here, with the excitement of checking out a historical neighborhood spot, but our visit left us feeling so uncomfortable, cornered, and exhausted.
I suggested this spot to my friends, but walked away feeling embarrassed. I wont be making that mistake again.
Highly recommend management to regroup and reflect on what this place can offer to their customers, because a ācuteā historic court yard patio just...
