I placed an order through Uber Eats because I clearly didn’t want to leave my home- I paid a processing fee and a delivery fee for the convenience. Unfortunately when my order arrived, one of the two sandwiches I ordered was missing. The bag was sealed and I spoke to the driver, who had no responsibility in the situation, and he told me to contact the restaurant. I sent in a complaint through Uber and was promptly refunded for the price of the sandwich, and nothing more. I get that that is on Uber. But now I was out my dinner. I called and spoke to another employee who tried to help me the best he could before he transferred me to his manager Juan. After explaining my situation, I had hoped the restaurant would take responsibility for the missing sandwich, but Juan refused. My Uber delivery guy didn’t steal a sandwich man, your staff messed up and now i’m out my dinner. All he could tell me was that if I traveled to the location, the very thing I paid a convenience fee to avoid, he would be able to comp the sandwich for me. Otherwise I would have to reorder through uber, pay another delivery and convenience fee, and receive nothing in return for my troubles. I tried to be understanding as I work in retail myself and loathe being an annoying customer, but I was surprised at how unwilling Juan was in taking responsibility for the restaurant’s...
Read moreI recently visited Peri Peri in Lakeview for lunch with my two young sons. A few days prior, we had won a coupon for a free sandwich, and the boys were very excited to redeem it. The food, as always, was tasty, and the rest of the staff was warm and welcoming. However, our experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the behavior of the manager on duty.
While we were waiting for our order, my boys each grabbed a packet of ketchup. The manager gave them a strange look, and when I politely asked if he wanted them to put the ketchup back, his dismissive response was, “They already took them.” I found this incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful, especially in front of two five-year-olds. It felt as though his issue was not with the ketchup, but with the fact that we were using a coupon.
As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I know how important it is to treat every customer with kindness and respect—especially when children are involved. When I’m teaching my kids manners and how to behave in public, I expect the adults around them to set a positive example. Unfortunately, that was not the case here.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as one person’s poor attitude can taint an otherwise great experience. We love the food at Peri Peri, but behavior like this makes me think twice...
Read moreI went to the 670 W. Diversey Parkway Nandos location in Chicago.
I was able to try their new Pulled Chicken, Feta & Avocado Bowl along with a soft drink. the bowl consists of: chilled Peri-Peri pulled chicken served over Portuguese rice with feta cheese, avocado, and semi-dried tomatoes.
The bowl has generous portions of Portuguese rice (delicious, by the way) and pulled chicken, the avocado and the semi-dried tomatoes (I really liked the tomatoes too) complimented the rice and chicken. The bowl was well balanced, and the flavours combined to make a delicious meal that I could not complete in one sitting. It truly is a complete meal in a bowl!
My only disappointment was that the rice was also served cold, I prefer my rice to be warm.
The employees were friendly and, all were wearing masks.
I really liked the way this location is decorated with colorful paintings and Nando's slogans on the walls. There are lots of tables and booths for seating and I just had to sit in one of the swinging chairs that are at the tables in front of the window. It was fun!
The floor however, was very greasy and slippery. This needs to be cleaned.
I normally get the Nando's Peri-Peri 1/4 chicken, but I liked my bowl so much that I think that one of Nando's Peri-Peri bowls will be my go to meal to order...
