Prost Restaurant

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the dining experience my family of five, including my husband and our three adult children, had at your establishment on July 22, 2025, while celebrating my husband's birthday. As my husband is German, he chose your restaurant hoping for an authentic and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, our visit was marked by several issues that significantly detracted from our celebration. Upon arrival, we were not greeted by staff and had to seat ourselves despite the restaurant being uncrowded. It took 35 minutes for a server to attend to our table, which was an unacceptable delay. I informed the server that we were celebrating my husband's birthday, but no acknowledgment, such as a complimentary drink, was offered beyond a brief "Happy Birthday." When our food arrived, our 23-year-old daughter politely noted that she had ordered macaroni and cheese, which was missing. The server responded rudely, stating, "I only have two hands!" This unprofessional and curt behavior shocked our entire family. Although a different server delivered the remaining items, the initial server's conduct was addressed when my husband raised the issue. The server offered a partial apology, citing short staffing, and removed the cheese curds from our bill. However, this did not adequately resolve the negative impact of the interaction. Additionally, the food quality was disappointing. The restaurant was not clean, our table and booth were dirty and sticky. The food was overly salty, appeared to be reheated multiple times, and lacked freshness, suggesting they may have been microwaved. Overall, the poor customer service and substandard food quality created a highly negative experience for my family, overshadowing what should have been a special occasion. I hope you will address these concerns to ensure future guests do not encounter similar issues. Please feel free to contact me to discuss this matter further. PLEASE NOTE: For an exceptional dining experience featuring delicious, fresh, and authentic German cuisine, outstanding customer service, and a clean, welcoming atmosphere, we highly recommend Edelweiss German American Cuisine. Note that the restaurant is closed...

TLDR: great beer and service. Weird atmosphere, terrible terrible terrible (cheese based) food

Reservation-only for a beer hall styled restaurant is weird. It’s weirder when you realize each table that is built to sit 8+ easily is sitting on average 3. Sharing one chair between two people at a bar, even if the restaurant is half empty, it’s fine I guess (~7:30pm) so is the beer at least good?

We ordered Hirter Morchls. A must for German themed bar. They were excellent! What about the food?

We ordered the spätzle (another must) and the cheese curds. The curds were prepared as well as my first time home frying. Half the curds were melted through the breading (probably didn’t freeze then first or they cooked too long). A bad look that is baffling for a place branding their curds as “authentic”. But that isn’t half of it.

The first spätzle bites felt right, until I notice the unmistakably distinct flavor and texture of Kraft Singles. I couldn’t believe it. For a place that serves a third of a Maders (MKE) at the same price point (compensating for the designed-low occupancy?) and about the same portion as Glunz tavern for more money, it is simply embarrassing that they couldn’t use actual cheese. I could hardly finish my plate of one of my favorite foods.

Also, you physically could not avoid looking at a TV, no matter where you looked.

In all, come for the beer. But be warned, the people running this place either don’t know food, or are so confident in their clientele that they feel they can hide generally abysmal quality at an unreasonable price point ($100 for two beers, two spätzles, one curds) behind a veneer of Bavarian authenticity (I don’t think they legally sell Kraft in...

Like many other reviews, I definitely agree Prost has a great selection of German beer and their food is tasty. But unfortunately, I was disgusted by my experience and hence the 1 star.

I went there on Friday night (9pm) before meeting some friends. I was greeted and shown to the bar where I ordered a beer and asked for the beer menu. Everything was going great until 2 drunk waitresses, who were definitely not on duty, thought it would be great to continue drinking at Prost showed up.

Within minutes, they began making distasteful racial jokes and then proceeded to refer to the bartenders and some guests as fa*ts. The bartenders, instead of putting a stop to it, were laughing at their continued remarks and adding some humor themselves. They went out to smoke and I thought I had heard the last of it. They returned and continued with their remarks. Unfortunately, I was waiting for my food, otherwise, I would have walked out immediately. This went on for over 20 minutes.

I understand a bar gets rowdy and there's no way to control all customers, but when their own staff (whether on the clock or not) are the ones spewing racial and homophobic slurs, it's very disappointing. I'll definitely take my patronage somewhere else, and...

Always try to check out local German food when even we travel. The wife and I found Prost online and wanted to check it out for lunch. We arrived Saturday about 130pm to a pretty empty place. They had college football on and plenty of TV for watching. Our server was funny and very knowledgeable on the beers. He did disappear for a while and I was with out a beer for a while. I had to grab another employee and she promptly took care of me. The giant pretzel is no joke. We got the half and had trouble finishing it. The portions are large the food is good, average for most German spots but not great. It will not prevent me from come back. I can only imagine how this place is during Octoberfest. Will return for sure!

GUTENTAG MORE LIKE GLUTEN…TAG 🥨 MASSIVE pretzel alert 🚨 You’re gonna want a full pretzel but let me stop you right there….you don’t. They are big and they are a tasty feast 👅 Felt full here (emotionally and physically (I ate & drank TOO much)). Oh and here’s another point, you’re gonna wanna get a boot but this I totally recommend. I was stumbling a little bit when I left but that’s because holy canoli it’s a BOOT of beer. Haha. How novel. I had Lou as a server and he did a really good job. I hope you have him when you go. Nothing much left to say other than step into German town on Lincoln (Prost!) when you get a chance. SEE YA 👋 THANKS
