The Slice Hut at Neon Gardens — Restaurant in Lake View Township

The pizza is ok/good though the layout is misleading. It looks like The Slice Hut and Neon Gardens are combined establishments, the service and experiences are definitely separate. When you walk in, they have pizza behind glass so you can see what they look like and self-order screens at the front. If you don't know any better, which we didn't as it was our first time, you would think that is where you order then sit in the back. There is only a 8 x 11 sheet of paper by the side of the door leading to the back room indicating the front is for order-by-the-slice and the back seating is for reservations. We didn't see it as it wasn't obvious and were shooed back to the front area.

You pick up your own pizza and clean up your own table, which gives McDonalds vibes. We essentially paid $20 for pizza we could have to made and cleaned up at home. They also have loud music playing in the pay-by-the-slice seating area and it makes it difficult to converse. Neon Garden is probably a better experience as you get an actual server. ...

Pizza and atmosphere is amazing. Definitely some of the best pizza and closest to true NYC style I’ve had in Chicago. For $7 per slice though, it’s pretty expensive. Paying $15.51 for two slices after tax, it’s a lot and for that reason I don’t really see myself stopping by as much as I may want to for a quick bite. You’re better off ordering a whole pie, but they are excellent. I also can’t wait to go back and explore more of the arcade and bar area as well.

EDIT: Owners were nice enough to respond and actually took feedback and acted upon it, lowering prices of pizza! Impressed by their responsiveness and commitment to customers. Definitely gonna go back soon and try some more slices. Big fan of Slice...

Awesome place! Super cool atmosphere. They have constant themes that change.. Currently Harry Potter theme! Was teenage mutant ninja turtles. Can’t wait to see what they do next! Lots of space inside! Nice dining area for the family, dimly lit bar area providing great date night ambiance. Back room filled with nostalgic games like PAC Man, Galaga, teenage mutant ninja turtles pinball game, big game hunter, two player sit down Mario kart, skeeball, and much more! Such a fun time! The owners are just great people! Treated my son to some ice cream at the end of our meal. Very unique place! Lots of fun for our family tonight! Can’t wait...
