Can't recommend (yet): Had shishito peppers for appetizers, do not recommend it - they were simply not done yet, 1/3 of peppers at bottom of bowl were barely roasted it was like eating warmed up green peppers. The rest 2/3 were roasted but simply not enough, and not much flavor. I've had them many times and made at home, here by far was the worst I've had - especially for something so simple it was a bit of a shame.
Also had the in and out roll, rainbow roll, and spicy tuna roll. All tasted very fresh. Spicy tuna roll was by far the tastiest, even though was the simplest and cheapest of the 3. Unfortunately the in and out and rainbow roll did not live up to expectation, taste (to each their own) and price wise. I would not have them again.
Also, it was odd how we got seated from the start, first thing we were asked if we could sit at the bar counter, and then told that actually a table is available which was great! but the when we entered the place it was almost empty and all tables available for most of the time we were there - super odd, maybe there were reservations - idk, but still, when we left most of tables were empty. All in all the fish was fresh, loved that, but taste/flavor of most items we got did not impress me, and compared to a few sushi places in the area this place did not excel. Since they just opened I may give it another try in a few months, as I know any place needs some time to ramp up and get...
Read moreThis is a casual sushi spot you can go to with your friends and not necessarily need to get dressed up, but can if you want to. The food alone is hands down five stars. We sat in the back area, which they label as the speakeasy and is a bar area with about five two-top tables.
The drinks are concocted STRONG which is my personal love language. I would 100% get the Lycheetini and the Night Cap again.
We started our meal with Mr. Kim's Crispy Rice, which is spicy tuna on a bed of crispy rice that was a little chewy, but the jalapeño on top made it crunchy and a 4/5. The In & Out Signature Roll was a show stopper, almost like a seafood tower on top of a maki roll. It felt like such a treat because of the generous portions of fresh fish embellishing this roll and a complete 5/5. The Moulton had cilantro in it, which made the roll more vibrant and bright with a healthy cut of tuna inside. 5.5. Last, but not least, was The 22. Simply amazing and like Lady Gaga would say never been done before. It featured a torched thin piece of salmon decorating the top of each piece and added a mild smokiness to the flavor.
To top it off the entire night the featured setlist was ChappelRoan, who opened for Olivia Rodrigo this year, so to say this was an ideal night was an...
Read moreI went back and forth on posting this review because I love Mitch, but we had the worst dining experience of our lives at Sushi Hall a few months ago.
We ordered miso soup and edamame. The miso soup never came out, and the edamame was the last dish we were served. How hard is it to fill a bowl with pre made soup that’s sitting in the back of the kitchen? Okay so we got our appetizers last.
A friend ordered a specialty vegetarian roll, and our server said due to limited ingredients he would have to check with the kitchen and get back to us. 30 minutes later I overhear him tell another table they don’t have the ingredients for the same roll our friend just ordered. I call him over and ask when he planned to tell us, and he argued with us that he already had told us when all 4 members of our party knew he didn’t.
To top it all off, the man who must be Mitch’s business partner who schmoozes at all the tables comes over to us and has the gall to talk badly about Toro Sushi, Mitch’s first restaurant. We told him about our experience and he took care of a few items on our bill which I appreciate, but don’t talk down on the sushi restaurant that knows when to bring out an appetizer.
I’m sure you’ll have a better experience here and I hope so for...
