This review is re: their cake ordering process.
I sent the request form on a Thursday morning. Not getting a reply by Monday morning, I decided to pop in as I live in the area. The staff at front took my contact info and told me they'd be in touch. By the time I returned home, a friendly reply was waiting for me, eager to discuss the order. I sent them images (dog, food, band logo, family friendly images), and that was the last I ever heard from them. I did follow up 3 times via email over the next 1.5 weeks, and gave them a call. The front of the house assured me that I would hear back but I never did. In my last email, I asked them to just please let me know if they could do this cake so that I could go elsewhere in time for the birthday party. But still, never a response. I ended up going to Marianos and it was an easy experience with a beautiful cake.
I always want to support local mom and pop small businesses and avoid big box stores, but I ran out of time in this situation. Felt unprofessional and odd for a small business to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreok iām not sure if i just went on a bad day, but this is not what itās hyped up to be. i got an americano and asked for cream ā guy said that thereās cream at the end of the counter. went down there, and it was those shelf-stable little pods of cream that you get at 24-hour diners. literally you get fancier cream on an airplane. i put a few in (there were only 4 available) and walked out to sip the coffee ā realized that the shots were burned. it was utterly undrinkable, i threw it out. further, i also picked up a pastry from the selection at the counter (there were only a couple of things to choose from, so not sure why that was at 10 AM) and got a bacon and chive scone. well, bit into it and realized it was phyllo dough loosely wrapped around a TON of cream cheese. i mean, this thing was like eating a solid mouthful of just cream cheese. so overall, i really canāt recommend this place. i will say there were a good number of people chilling there on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place opened up a few months ago. I have been going there fairly frequently since opening or getting whatever gets delivered by friends and family. Roscoe Village needed a place like this that is a viable alternative to SBs, that is just down the street. There was a place that was jus ok, and closed during the pandemic. This place is a jewel. The Bakehouseās croissants are enough to make it legit contender for the best bakery/coffeehouse in the city. Then you got to add in the delicious food and the other baked goods and you have a new gem in the neighborhood. Louis has a great crew that happen to be family. Their commitment to quality food and personalized service is palpable in everything from the coffee to the cakes made in their small kitchen. Writing this review just reminded me to go back before the weekend crowds. I wish them nothing but success as I just want to...
