If you've never had the pleasure of enjoying a smash burger, you'll probably enjoy it because the cook prepares the meat so well you end up with those charred steak burger ends. However, if you grew up eating smash burgers or if you've had the honor of graduating to Waygu beef smash burgers you'll find that your palete requires a level complex flavor you won't find at the region because the cook is where the magic begins and ends because the burgers are crafted without the balance of salt, fat, acid and heat being considered. Since the burger isn't seasoned, you're relying on the pink special sauce, but it's too sweet to compliment the savory, well cooked beef. The onions weren't fried or raw they were somewhere in the middle like they had been steamed, plus they definitely weren't fresh because it didn't add any flavor at all. In order for my family to enjoy the burgers at all, we had to scrape off the special sauce and apply mustard to balance out the flavor. The fries were fresh cut and crisp, so we enjoyed those, but the onion rings weren't good alone, so I suggest if you order them, swap them out for the onions they put on the burger. You'll find most diners utilizing the outdoor seating option because the indoor dining room is awkward. You can tell this place has seen better days because the aroma of burgers and fries isn't strong enough to cover up the musty odor this building as it cries out for a much needed renovation. The window seats aren't functional because the chair height is too high for the table height, so it doesn't leave room for someone larger than a toodler to put their legs under the table. I really wanted to love this place, especially considering the fact that I hadn't eaten all day, but I walked away, not even liking it. Thankfully, retro on roscoe was in full effect, so getting to enjoy the block party was a nice consultation prize after my tastebuds were let down. Although I can not recommend dining in, if you're looking for an old-fashioned simple burger that you can dress to your liking at home, it's definitely...

On Sunday, 10/31/21, at 3:30 pm I called to double-check their hours and an employee answered telling me that they do close at 8 pm. At 6:45 we tried to place an online order and the online system didn't allow us to do so. Then, we tried calling to which we received no answer. After calling a couple more times, someone answered stating "Hello, this is the Region, we are closed". I stated, "I called earlier to confirm your time and someone told me 8pm", the guy responded "the employees who were supposed to close called off so we're closing early". I stated "that stinks, this is our second time trying to order on a Sunday where you all have closed early." The line went quiet, I said "Hello" and the employee hung up. I understand that the pandemic has caused a lot of unreliability etc. within the food/customer service industry, but it truly upsets when the customer service is trash and you're being hung up on. This is the SECOND TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. The first time my husband and I actually DROVE ALL THE WAY up there (about a good 30-min drive) to be greeted with a makeshift sign stating "CLOSED EARLY", despite it being over an hour before close time!
It is extremely unfortunate that we will not be giving our services to this restaurant any longer. It is also unfortunate that I have to leave a one star review seeing as though the burgers are delicious! This place has been a great "go-to" when my husband I are in the mood for a nice greasy and...
Read moreTasty, juicy burgers and onion rings…didn’t disappoint! This dude I was with and I visited a couple of weeks ago because he wants to try all things that have been on Chicago’s Best… (food goals!) He mentioned he wanted to try a good burger place and voila! I searched the Chicago’s Best website and found one that was featured close to us (not sure why Indiana and Yorkville are listed on CHICAGO’S BEST, since those aren’t Chicago…but that’s not why I’m here. I’ll deal with that later). It’s a very small burger place, I mean small however; we were the only customers when we got there and that didn’t last too long but, it never got too crowded plus it was a cold Wednesday night in November. This dude I was with initially wanted the annihilation burger, until I explained what it was…he then opted for the Diggity Dos with fries and I got the single cheese, with bacon, side of jalapeños with onion rings. The burgers aren’t averaged size and the way the edges are crisped and the middle’s juicy…(mouthwatering); we both agreed the burgers were really good and we’ll return. The onion rings were equally amazing and huge, I could’ve eaten then by themselves with the Region sauce, which was also really good. I only have two issues…the jalapeños were an extra $1, and they should’ve been grilled. Paying extra for some hard jalapeños isn’t what’s up. I don’t like hard jalapeños, some might…just saying and that’s my opinion and I won’t get them in the future. Forgot to take a picture!...
