Vaughan's Pub — Restaurant in Lake View Township

This place was slow when we arrived and the service was quick and friendly. The food was decent, nothing to write home about, but we didn't go there for the food and it's not their focus either so I'm still giving it 4 stars... The chips were crispy and salty and my friend said the "sliders" were good though they definitely were just almost normal burgers on tiny buns. Over the 1.5 hours we were there, the place filled up and it didn't appear they had much more staff join. There was a good period of time (maybe even 30 minutes) where no one asked if we needed anything. We were seated at a table and technically it is a bar, so maybe the expectation was that we would go to the bar... I don't know but it wasn't communicated. Was really excited about this place since it’s only a block from my apartment.

First experience: some pumpkin carving thing. Couldn’t get a seat to eat, and the place smelled like pumpkin - gross.

Second experience: all tables were reserved, no bartender. Why was it open if it looks like it was rented out?

Third experience: got a table. Waited 15 minutes and no service. Thought maybe we just have to go to the bar. Went up to the bar, made eye contact with the bartender, but she was too busy chatting up a storm to her friends who were sitting there. Didn’t acknowledge my presence whatsoever.

Too bad this place isn’t better, as I had high hopes. Good thing there are much better places right in this area that I can frequent instead of going back...

After sitting for what seemed like forever, without even an acknowledgement of our empty beers. I finally flag Mr. Man-bun down and he said "she will get you". Basically he said to our face, "that's not my job", with food & empty drinks, still waiting. He didn't even go tell whoever job it was. If Mr. Man-bun cared about anyone else but his friends at the other end of the bar, perhaps he could of poured our beers. Or perhaps said sure, one second, then tell whomever she was.

Eventually I flagged "she" down and got our last beer and left.

Food was ok, not horrible which is why 2 stars. "She" was pretty friendly also.
