I’ve been frequenting since the soft opening and learned quite a few things about the new Lake Zurich gem 💎: • the current menu they have will be expanding, this is very much to see what works best; what items sell and what don’t. • They don’t have guest wifi (uncertain as to whether they will eventually or not) so if you’re coming to work make sure you have a good hot spot. • So far they’ve been selling out fast, make sure you get in early to get a good selection. • There are two doors at the entrance, the one on the left is exit only, the one on the right (with Apres and the hours on it) is the entrance. Overall the people that work there are wonderful, they are newly opened so please be patient as they continue to figure things out. But service is great, you can already hear the baristas greeting the (rightfully deserved) regulars. I’ve been waiting for a decent bakery to open up in town for a while. So Apres is a much needed breath of fresh air. Their Kougin Amann and herby cheddar biscuit are my favorites so far. Their coffee is smooth, sweet and fresh (if you’ve had stale coffee you know what disappointment tastes like ) so I’ve found myself not needing any extra sugars or sweeteners. A HUGE win for me is that they don’t bog down their cold drinks with ice. If I wanted coffee flavored ice I’d go to Starbucks, it’s so nice to get what you pay for (and in this economy too). The atmosphere is bright and clean and the use of plants and that green? *chefs kiss* with social anxiety it can be really hard to go out alone but in spaces that breathe it makes it so much easier. I don’t feel closed in, and that’s important. There aren’t any steps in so this place is wonderful for those with mobile disabilities. A customers wish list (I know your menu is expanding): • Guest WiFi is on the top of the list • More sweeteners for coffee (hazelnut syrup please 🙏🏽) • breakfast Sammie’s • cold brew •for y’all’s continued success in this little town 💎

What a delicious addition to our local community! We stopped in to try a few individual items since they recently opened. I was not disappointed! I knew a little about what to expect from other reviewers, but I always like to try it for myself. I arrived around noon, unsure if there would be a lot of items left with only 3 hours to go. Upon entering the bakery, I immediately knew I was in for a treat. It smelled heavenly! Like a great bakery should smell. I was promptly greeted with smiles. I approached the display cases and saw they were very well stocked with pretty much everything. I quickly decided what to try that was offered that day. I got: a Chocolate Orange Tart, a Raspberry Croquette (sp?), 3 chocolate raspberry macarons, an herb & cheddar scone and a chocolate croissant. It was a bit pricey, yes, more than maybe some other local bakeries, but the *quality* made it make sense! I thought prices were very fair, personally. It was luxurious..? My toddler also enjoyed some shared sweets while we stopped in and it was just a nice little treat! The raspberries in the croquette were soo very fresh! The cream was light and airy. The macarons were light and crisp, filled with a slightly-chilled chocolate mousse and a hidden raspberry fruit-filling inside! The chocolate orange tart was rich and decadent. Luxurious. The chocolate croissant-just like a Parisian bakery, they were flaky and buttery and fresh and I will probably buy those every week routinely, regardless of the rest of the items I might also like to try there. Well done! I miss Paris all the time and this helped to bring a piece of that to me! I hope you plan to expand later and offer bread items and a coffee/espresso bar; they would be a worthy pairing to your current tasty sweeter offerings! Will most definitely be back!

Followed the rave reviews here from Barrington in search of a pastry and coffee. I got there an hour before closing so options were limited. I ordered the chocolate chip cookie -- so bitter, salty and hard it didn't taste like any chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. Disappointed. I also ordered a puffy molasses cookie thinking it would be a sweet, chewy, spicy baked good. Instead, it too was hard, bitter and lacking flavor except for heavy Black Strap Molasses. Yuck. My iced coffee was decent but I didn't know I had to ask for sugar. There's no where to help yourself they add it behind the bar. So my iced coffee with cream was also just not up to par. Yes I eventually asked for sugar, she suggested simple syrup and even after two pumps, it wasn't much improved. I'll skip Apres for sweets, however it is a lovely shop with ample help.
