So housewarmings are usually good time, ours was a spooktacular blast! The thing that comes from great nights? Better mornings and brekkies with loved ones. Went here with my sister to get breakfast after a night of laughing, drinking, and scaring. If you ever imagined what living in a small local town like twin peaks, stars hollow, or even the Alaskan town of Cicely (if you get that reference you get gold stars) this is where you come. Even short staffed my sister and I had such a great experience (if you tip anything less than 15% to the waitstaff; we’re not friends) from the attentive refilling of our coffee to the DELICIOUS food (my sister got the Oreo pancakes and I got a healthy serving of corned beef hash & eggs (poached of course) we were able to have conversation without being frequently interrupted and still felt cared for and not like we were looking to flag someone down. Everyone was so kind and polite we have nothing but great things to say about our whole experience and look forward to our next...
Read moreA small, friendly diner that's become hit-and-miss. The veteran staff is AWESOME and no matter how busy they are they never make you feel rushed and are always attentive. These are the employees that created the atmosphere and made Koffee Kup width the visit.
The newer staff is quick/short/give-me-your-order-and-don't-bother-me-even-for-a-refill. Today we tried to call in an order for pick-up. I was put on hold "for a minute"... 10 minutes later my wife decided to just drive over and order in person... 25 minutes after I was first put on hold I could hear her tell the (non-veteran) lady she could hang-up the call. The lady barely acknowledged what happened saying, "oops, sorry, what do you want to order?" Not that I expect anything major, but more than "oops" after 25 minutes plus the added time of waiting around for the order.
The food is OK, not bad, but nothing to go out of your way for. The veteran staff is what set this place apart and they've steadily been losing that appeal over the last...
Read moreThis is really the only "downtown" Lake Zurich spot to grab breakfast and brunch. There are other chains nearby like Starbucks or Walker Bros, but if you want a small business local place, this is it. That said, on the weekends it gets busy. It's a small restaurant so I couldn't imagine a large group of more than say, 10 people being accommodated here. The food is ok. The pancakes are very dense and sponge-y. The hash browns are typically burnt on top. I ordered a tuna melt and the tuna salad is definitely premade, and wasn't toasted all the way through. When we ordered our food came out in less than five minutes, which is convenient, but is it a good thing when going to a sit down restaurant knowing a lot of the food must have been premade? I don't know, it's nice to support small businesses and it's a cute spot but I don't go there expecting to...
