I work nearby, and had seen this new place mentioned on social media, so I decided to try it out yesterday. I called ahead to place my order and was told it would be about 10 minutes. Shortly after arriving my food was ready and I took it back to my office to eat. The guys working the food truck were very friendly, and seemed eager to get their name out there and also to accept feedback. I ordered the lamb and beef gyro platter, which comes with delicious saffron basmati rice and a small salad. They have two sauces, white and red, and I was warned that the red sauce is a bit spicy, so I asked for it on the side. Everything was delicious! The meat had an excellent flavor, and went perfectly with the rice, salad and pita bread that came with it. The white sauce was phenomenal, and while the red sauce was a tad spicy, I liked being able to put a little on every few bites. Today, when trying to decide where to have lunch, I again ordered from the NYC Cart, as did one of my coworkers. I got the same thing as yesterday, which was still just as good, and she got a large Greek salad with the gyro meat. Her salad looked delicious, with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and lots of feta and meat. She couldn't even finish it all. I've been very impressed by this place both times I've eaten there, and it is going to become a regular addition to our...
Read moreI have seen this little spot a time or two on Google searches, but food trucks can freak me out and I'm always slow to try them.
This one did not disappoint. When I got there the truck looked squeaky clean (my biggest concern about food trucks). It appears two gentlemen work the truck together and I met both of them. They seemed like really genuinely kind people.
I ordered the chicken gyro bowl with sauces on the side and my husband got the turf and turf bowl (with sauces on it). We both loved the food! Our two year old daughter and 11 month old son wanted to try and they both loved it (ok, so the 2 year old said she didn't like the red sauce, but she then proceeded to take my cup of white sauce and she licked it clean 🤦♀️🤷♀️🤣). My husband was born and raised in NYC and he lived there for a little while after we started dating. We both agreed it hit the right notes and brought us back to a little piece of our relationship that we don't get to revisit often. Definitely give this little spot a try- it's...
Read moreThis may be the best food in Lakeland and you need to try it today. I dont practice any religion but this cart is halal and it is amazing. We got the lamb rice bowl, jerk chicken pita wrap, and baklava. The lamb was tender, the rice and pita bread had so much flavor, and the chicken stayed crispy through a 25 min drive. The baklava wasn't like the Greek versions I've had before, it was soft and wasn't crazy soaked in honey but it was so good. They don't skimp out on anything either, everything was loaded in sauce and toppings and meat. Rice bowl is perfect to split for lunch or enjoy by yourself for a filling dinner. Everything is so reasonably priced for how good the food, it came out quick and steaming hot, and I felt so welcome when I walked up. I will definitely be...
