5 Star Seafood & More — Restaurant in Lakeland

5 Star Seafood in Lakeland opened in a building where, so far, nothing has been able to thrive. I wasn’t expecting much from a restaurant that served so many different options, yet, claiming 5 Stars on seafood. I am so happy to say that I was very pleasantly surprised! We’ve been twice now and both visits have been extremely enjoyable. The first visit, we did a drive through order of their fried shrimp. Hot and delicious even after waiting the drive home. The 2nd visit was a dine-in experience. The most pleasant young lady, Zoe, was juggling counter orders, drive through speaker orders and serving customers through the window and at the outside dining tables with such kindness, calmness and real joy to be conversing. Her counterpart, Santos, in the kitchen happened to see us at the counter and walked out to give Zoe and hand and take our order. We were fairly new to the menu but knew we were contemplating the fish platter, so he filled us in on the many types we were able to choose from, including Grouper for a minimal up-charge. At his suggestion, we chose Basa. I had never heard of it before but he was quite sure we would be pleased. He was correct. Sweet, mild and silky. The whole meal was such a treat. And fresh! None of that frozen boxed stuff. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of dining here and will without hesitation be back for more! ​I can't say enough about Five Star Seafood! We've already been twice and the food and service were absolutely incredible both times. ​ On our first visit, we had the gyro, shrimp pasta, and oysters, all of which were amazing. Zoey, our server and cashier, was fantastic—friendly and attentive. The strawberry smoothie was the perfect treat. ​ We loved it so much that we came back two days later! This time we tried the grouper Philly sub, clams, a chocolate shake, and a strawberry shake. Everything was absolutely delicious. The owner, Marwen, was there and he was so generous. I got the scampi dinner. Comes with potatoes, corn, and a drink. I added a side of hush puppies. I was told that there would be garlic butter poured onto the bed of rice and I definitely did not get that. Seems they just put the shrimp on the rice zero garlic butter just whatever what was on the shrimp but nothing additional. They were busy I came in with only 3 people working. 1 at the drive through/ front counter taking orders with a line at both registers and 2 in the kitchen. The seasoning is alright, the corn is okay, the potatoes are good. The hush puppies are meh kinda mushy, not my vibe. HOWEVER, The customer service was great. Wait time was normal nothing crazy.
