I'm a homeless combat veteran recently out of South County. I had no where to go and a friend I met in county, and his girl were nice enough to give me a ride to Lakeland. I've been going there for the all you can eat pancakes. I can normally only eat about 10 personally, but I am starving in the street for real. I had been going there for 3 or 4 days in a row, always to get the all you can eat pancakes. IHOP has the best pancakes you can find at a breakfast place in my opinion. I admit I have stayed there for a good amount of time on many occasions. I have even openly talked through my problems out loud to thin air in the opinions of some potentially. However I've only had a couple people openly say something to me, at which the staff in particular one of the cooks handled the situation like a real professional. Today I went in to buy a cheeseburger omlet due to that one having the most calories which still gets you all you can eat pancakes. The very rude manager had no compassion for me, a paying customer. He stated someone had told him I had been coming in and spending longer than what i should for all you can drink coffee and pancakes. I asked him what a reasonable amount of time would be, he stated one hour. I dissagree with that personally as a paying customer. I had not given the manager any insight into my homeless situation. He was very unprofessional in his approach. If I owned that store, he would not work for me. I am almost inclined to go to Denny's down the road now just in spite one of many. There are many good employees in there., Denny's is not that far away. The way that man treated me like a child with no respect for me personally infuriated me. I deserved no respect as a paying customer. I would fire him with no reason why if i was his employer, funny how in Florida you can do that to an employee, I don't think that is right. I have a gym membership to a place that offers spin class, im so new to the gym i dont even know the name lol. I am still...
Read moreI wanted pancakes. So did my husband. He eats his with gravy. He asked for a side of brown gravy. At first waitress brought the white bowl pictured full of white sausage gravy. So my husband told her that he asked for brown gravy. So she took white gravy back and brought the little black bowl of turkey gravy. Didn't know that the size of the side of gravy depended on what kind of gravy. Then my husband paid the check and brought the receipt back to me. When I looked at the receipt the total was off by like $4. Not even going to go into the reasons behind that. But we brought the receipt and asked the waitress about the discrepancy. She called another waitress over and both agreed that a mistake had been made. But they couldn't do anything about it because the manager who handles refunds wasn't there. She said I would have to call tomorrow to speak to the right manager to get a refund. Which is fine. But it just makes me wonder. What if this "happens" a few times a day? What if people aren't local and can't stick around for their refund? That could be quite a nice chunk of change in someone's pocket. Just my opinion. We're in a pandemic. When I go out to eat I have been tipping more than usual because I know everyone is hurting. But youd think that being in a pandemic and not having the business they're used to would make for better customer service also. The service at this particular location (S.Fla Lakeland) has been getting worse the last 5 or so times that I've went. Don't think I will be going anymore and that's so disappointing because I used to...
Read moreIm a server and i try to be understanding but some things you cant look past. We ate at this ihop and our server must have been new which is perfectly fine. I ordered the sampler and she messed up our order and argued with me telling me it only came with one meat instead of the three different meats, i asked her about it and she told me it only comes that way during the day time. I only ever go there at night after work so that was untrue. I let that slide and didnt complain but when my food came out there was a massive wad of hair. Not just a single hair but a ball of it. I immediately pointed it out to her and she took my food back. Im almost positive they gave me my same food back just removed the hair because my food was ice cold literally not even luke warm. We also got a third plate which im sure was another tables food cause her other table complained about not getting a dish they ordered which just so happened to be what was brought to us extra. I ended up not eating the part of my food i knew the hair was on because i didnt want to send it back again. I understand if your in training but there was nobody helping this poor girl out or trying to make the situation better. Me and my friend go there every week after we get off work. We were very disappointed with this visit. There was also a guy sleeping on the waiting bench as you enter. Idk why but it was just unsettling since this is a business with paying customers. Employee or not they should not be sleeping in the waiting area. Idk just a...
