Jimmy's Deli — Restaurant in Lakeport

I used to live in lake county and ate here 2-3 times a week, to the point they always knew my name and my order. Jimmy and his wife and kids are the most friendly people you can meet, and the food is to die for. I'm planning a trip from Grass Valley to Calistoga soon, and taking an hour detour through Lakeport just to get a Shawarma and some Falafels. The spicy falafel sauce is sooo amazing, once Jimmy sold me a giant gallon sized jar of it, I couldn't get enough! The falafel has the most delicious combination of ingredients, unrivaled by anyone else. The Shawarma is the best I've ever had, having traveled to many places across the USA for work, they're still my favorite, the tahini sauce really ties the whole dish together. Years later, I still wake up craving it. Other top choices are the Greek salad with tritip, the lemon dressing is absolutely killer and the tritip is always cooked and seasoned to perfection. The Philly cheesesteaks or French dip with au jus are also fantastic, better than anything actually in Philly! And you can never go wrong with Jimmy's BBQ chicken, cooked over his charcoal grill, its the only way to make BBQ in my opinion. Love you guys, can't wait...

Decent food, but my friend worked here a few years ago and at that time, they didn’t pay out 100 percent of the tips they collect, at least not fully. They appeared to collect all the tips and they would hand out a predetermined amount every two weeks (plus a meal voucher that they deducted out of employees pay). The tips they gave their employees never changed / fluctuated with the amount collected. I kept asking my friend why it wasn’t fluctuating and in time she decided to ask. When my friend inquired about this inconsistency, they fired her. They told her they were allowed to keep a portion of the tips because they didn’t consider themselves a restaurant.
