Hy-Vee Market Grille — Restaurant in Lakeville

Got there just before 6 p.m. July 4th. Waiter was nice enough to still allow an appetizer and drinks to be rung in at happy hour prices which end at 6 p.m. and he took our order at 6:03. From there, down hill. They obviously let too many people off on the holiday. We were sitting for at least 15 minutes and the "manager" named Derrick asked who ordered the scallops? Which was me. He said unfortunately they were out and he brought me a menu like that was a very nice gesture on his part or something? How about maybe a "I apologize for the inconvenience(since took 15 minutes to let me know) and we would like to offer you free drink or 20% off your meal". Nope. Instead I got a "we wouldn't have known we were out until we rang it up"?? After I said had my heart set on scallops. At about 6:40 finally our food came out which I ordered the "blackened" shrimp tacos. It wasn't blackened and the shrimp were very small. Our waiter had to go help cook in kitchen and the fry cook was preparing everything apparently. She was nice but took awhile to bring out boxes for leftovers and initially rang checks up incorrectly. I then see the impolite, unprofessional manager Derrick peer over the plants seeing if we were almost done as clearly he had better places to be. Upon leaving the waitress says thank you and have a good night and Mr manager is sitting on his phone probably making sure his plans are still on and doesn't even acknowledge us. We were told that the Sunday buffet was good at the Lakeville location on Pilot Knob Road in Minnesota. The food was mediocre at best. The service was lacking also. The buffet was small and looked unappetizing. We were told they were not going to refresh the food because it was 130 and it was going to be shut down shortly. We were seated in a back corner where we could see nothing but the outside. I asked for water and OK. My husband asked for coffee and water. He got coffee and water. I got OJ but asked for water also. I pointed this out to our server and I got water and coffee. I had asked for water, not coffee. I ordered a breakfast bowl with 3 eggs over easy. I got 1 egg over hard, one egg over medium and 1 egg sort of over easy. It was replaced with eggs that were not cooked the best, but I didn't want to keep trying to get the eggs done right. There was a lot of grease mixed in with the egg yolk which looked unpleasant. The breakfast potatoes were dry. After I finished eating I noticed that my stomach was hurting. It got worse as we were paying our bill. I'm glad we live close because I would have had a hard time getting home quickly. We have a day of things to do, but I have to be sure I am safe to go. We went here for dinner for the first time tonight. The service was fantastic but the food and drinks were not good.

First, I ordered their specialty Old Fashioned. It wasn't terrible, but came with a full orange wedge which is strange. We ordered a sushi rainbow roll as an app which was $14. It wasn't bad but it was the exact same roll that you can buy from the sushi counter in the grocery store for $10 with some spicy mayo thrown on top.

I ordered a sirloin steak for a main course which was fairly good. My girlfriend ordered the all you can eat snow crab which was terrible. The crab had no flavor and the server confirmed that it was boiled. No decent restaurant boils crab. It was so water-logged that water ran out when she picked it up. Both of our baked potatoes were old and dry. They had been in the warmer for way too long. The meal was $100 including tip which is insane for the quality of the food. I contemplated taking the issue up with our server but she was so nice I didn't want to put her through that awkward discussion. Hopefully management monitors this page and will be able to improve in the future.
