WOW! Before I write on, I’d just like to thank our waitress, Heather, for making this a special and unforgettable night.
Came here on SB Sunday. Absolutely slammed with online orders, phone orders, etc. They had a line going down the entire street and a staff member walking down the street with a radio in her hand relaying orders to the restaurant. Given this was our first time, we had no idea where to go, to order online or to dine in, or where to park and she was SOOO helpful and sweet when we needed advice.
Went inside and luckily got seated immediately. Unfortunately, we were at a table directly under the speaker being used for all of the TVs. It was so incredibly loud we couldn’t hear each other or our waitress and asked if anything could be done. The Super Bowl (Tom Brady, GROSS) was on so we didn’t expect the volume to be lowered. Heather was so sweet and encouraged us to move to a booth instead. Made the experience 100x better immediately.
Promptly received drinks and service (even with the slammed nature of the night!). Ordered a chicken parm sandwich, large cheese pizza, and a basket of fries. OMG!!! The fries were immaculate. Crispy and battered to perfection. The chicken parm was delicious, especially with the ciabatta bread. Pizza...CRUST! The crust was the real show stopper. Sauce was sweeter but not in the “cheap” sauce type of way. Awesome stuff all around food wise.
Covid-19 precautions were better than most restaurants. They had these movable plastic barriers for the bar and tall plexiglass screens between booths. Always good to see.
After the meal was finished, I asked if they had any desserts. They had quite a selection..we chose some sort of vanilla cake with a strawberry filling and a little bit of custard(?) maybe? I forgot the name, but it was delicious. Even better, they get it from a local bakery who specializes in these sorts of treats.
Heather told us the cake was on the house since it was my girlfriend’s birthday and we were from out of town. She came out with a giant piece of the cake with CANDLES and “Happy Birthday” written out in some sort of berry purée. She (and a nice fellow behind us) sang happy birthday. The look on my girlfriend’s face when this was all going down was magical. Thank you to Heather and Angelo’s for making our stop to Cleveland infinitely better. You guys are awesome, I totally understand why you have thousands of much deserved positive reviews and such a large local following.
Anybody looking for good food (especially pizza!), a clean/safe restaurant, friendly staff, and a good origin story should consider stopping at Angelo’s. Thanks again...
Read moreWhen it comes to the culinary world, Angelo's Pizza in Lakewood, Ohio, stands out as a beacon of excellence, especially for pizza lovers. Their pizzas are simply a masterpiece. The crust, always baked to a golden perfection, delivers the right combination of crunch and chewiness that makes each bite a delightful experience. With a rich, robust sauce that is packed with the right balance of sweetness and tanginess, it serves as the perfect foundation for a variety of fresh toppings that range from the classic to the gourmet.
Angelo's signature pies, bursting with flavor, are generously adorned with their house-blend cheese which melts into a delectably gooey texture, sealing in the flavors underneath. Every ingredient, from the succulent meats to the crisp, fresh veggies, is always fresh and vibrant, offering a symphony of flavors in every bite. This pizza is genuinely the stuff of legends and can rival any top-rated pizzeria across the country.
However, a visit to Angelo's Pizza is a tale of two experiences. While the dine-in experience is good due to the great food, the carry-out experience unfortunately leaves much to be desired. Order execution for takeaway customers tends to be chaotic, especially during peak hours. This results in long lines and waiting times which can be quite frustrating for customers who simply want to enjoy Angelo's amazing pizza at home.
Furthermore, the carry-out situation is exacerbated by the limited parking availability. This inconvenience adds an extra layer of stress to the carry-out experience, as finding a spot to park your car while waiting for your order can be a hassle.
In addition, the long lines for carry-out orders often intrude into the dining space, creating a distracting environment for those who prefer to savor their pizzas on-site. This not only hampers the overall dining experience but also detracts from the warm and cozy ambiance that Angelo's has been known for.
In conclusion, while Angelo's Pizza delivers an unmatched pizza experience, their carry-out execution needs improvement. A dedicated pick-up area, better parking facilities, and improved operational efficiency could greatly enhance the overall customer experience. Until then, despite the amazing pizzas, customers might find the carry-out...
Read moreI've heard great things about this pizza 🍕 We drove out. They were very busy, so we waited probably 30 minutes before we were seated. That's fine. It was a nice evening out. Once we were seated, our waitress appeared right away. She was Johnny-on-the-spot about everything. You'd take your last sip of drink, and she was right there with another one. To me, that's impressive because they were so busy! We ordered. I ordered a small pepperoni and sausage pizza, deep dish. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. There is an additional fee for fries with any sandwich. Our waitress didn't know that. She was like, "I always tell people no." 🤣 Sis, stop lying to customers. Also, it's written on the menu 🤣 She's cool, tho. Anyways, back to the food. For the pizza, It doesn't look super cheesy, but it was really cheesy, which I loved. The sauce was good. Some spots on the pizza wouldn't have much sauce, and then boom, you take another bite, and sauce is covering your whole mouth. The crust was a little sweet. I'm not a huge fan of sweet crust, but it didn't necessarily take away from the flavor of the pizza. Like, I didn't suddenly think I was eating dessert. The grilled chicken sandwich was covered in cheese and bacon. You couldn't even see the chicken. My kind of sandwich! My husband said it was good. The fries were great as well. Oh, he had wings, too. He ordered a bourbon sauce and said it was delicious. All in all, great food and great experience. Will I return? Yes. Is it my favorite pizza spot? Nah. Did I get my...
