Went here to try it out since Thai Kitchen was closed due to holidays. I did takeout. The food they gave me was just OK.
The NorthEast Sausage was OK. Not much "stuffing" into it, small amount of rice but flavor was OK.
The chicken satay was excellent EXCEPT they completely forgot my peanut sauce.
The Tom Kha (chicken) was VERY good. I've never had a bad Tom Kha/Tom Yum though. Only complaint was there were mushrooms in it where the menu doesn't mention that. Still very good.
The Pad Thai (medium spicy) lived up to the spice level I asked for. Very delicious. Only thing that was missing was more peanuts and you really need to include a lime wedge in there. Pad Thai without lime is just missing something.
All in all, the food was decent. Few things missing however.
Now the BUBBLE TEA. I got a Thai Tea Bubble Tea. This is my go to bubble tea. Creamy and sweet with a tea flavor. Love it. HOWEVER, this place has the WORST bubble tea I have ever had. I haven't had a lot of bubble tea, but wow was this my worst experience with it yet. They gave me a dripping mess (I felt compelled to mention this since I saw it in another review). The dripping mess wasn't the worst part. It tasted very mediocre. You could barely taste any Thai Tea. Heavy on the condensed milk. Not to mention there was almost no tapioca bubbles in this thing. The ones you did get were awful. Too soft or too hard. The slushy aspect of this bubble tea wasn't pleasant either. Waters it down WAY too much. I thought this was going to be the best bubble tea I've ever had since they seem to be so vocal about it on their Facebook and their menu. No. It was bad.
Thai Kitchen will always be my favorite for Pad Thai and Thai Bubble tea. This place did not live up to it. I am very sad that Thai Kitchen was closed. Even the Chinese restaurant around the corner from me (Mandarin House) has better bubble tea sorry to say.
So my rating... for just the food, I'd give this place a three star. For the bubble tea, I give...
Read moreUpon walking into the restaurant the first thing that hit me was a very strong smell of cleaning substance like pinesol or similar. I guess the smell could of been something worse. We almost turned around and walked out but were greeted by a male employee who showed us to a table. Luckily it was the one by the front window and there was a floor vent with cool air coming out. So we either got used to the smell or that vent helped a lot! We both ordered a thai iced tea which was refreshing. Then we placed our orders. We first ordered the 4 vegtable spring rolls. And then we ordered our entrees. My sister ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and I the Pad See Ew with chicken. Our entrees came out but apparently he forgot the spring rolls. We asked about this so in a few minutes he brought some out. Unfortunately we could have just forgotten about them as they weren't very good. They didn't have much of any vegtables in them and sort of an off flavor. The entrees we're flavorful though. It was a bit of a let down as I have been looking forward to coming here. There are so many other Thai restaurants in this area and it had made me wishing I had taken my sister elsewhere. She had been visiting from Arizona and had a taste for Thai food. With that said I may try them again in the future but not untill I go to some other Thai restaurants. They were not busy during our visit with only one other diner at first then when he left a group of three...
Read moreDeliciously simple and fresh food, prepared with attention.
Had: the tom yum soup, the massaman curry, the whole fried tilapia. All of it was very flavorful, while emphasizing simple ingredients.
The tom yum was bright, lightly spiced, and had this rich umami, all of which was complimented by bits of fresh herb and offset by earthy button mushrooms; the massaman curry was rich and nutty, with perfectly fried squares of tofu.
But the tilapia was the best part. I'm not familiar of too many places where you can buy a fully prepared entire fish for $13 and be able to rave about it's taste. The fish was perfectly fried, entirely crisp from head to tailfin; it was coated in a tamarind past that was more sweet than tart or spicy, but was also some combination of all of those things; the interior was moist; it was a hearty and memorable experience!
I should also add that our host was the only person we saw working the front and was singularly responsible for at least 10 separate orders of various kinds while we were there; yet she was very attentive to our needs and seemed interested in our...
