Dewey's Pizza 08NOV22 Located at 18516 Detroit Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107
So this is my first time ever going to Dewey’s Pizza, I have never even heard of the place before until Pizza week came around (and quite honestly it was the first time I have ever heard of Pizza week) until now that is. Anyway, I decided to give the place a try to see what It was all about. For those of you who don’t know I’m a huge foodie and I love trying new things and yeah, yeah I know there are plenty of you out there that say the same thing thus you could understand. My companion and I decided to eat in and I was pleasantly surprised on how nice the place was, clean; neat; modern and stylish and very family and friend oriented. I gotta say I felt very comfortable from the time I walked in there. We were greeted and seated quickly and as usual it didn’t take long before we were asked if we were ready to order. Now seeing as though this was our first time ever being at Dewey’s we needed some time to look things over to see what would call our attention. After looking at the menu we couldn’t decide so we just went with what they were offering for Pizza week which was the Meatball Pizza and the Caprice Pizza. Usually my companion would base her decisions off of my recommendations but as I stated, it was my first time there also… The Meatball Pizza came with Red sauce, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, Italian meatballs, oregano and shaved parmesan and the Caprice came with Olive oil, minced garlic, fontina, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, roasted cherry tomatoes. “Both sound very good” we said to one another and yes we had both because well, why not! Our Pizzas arrived at out table and neither one of us could barely wait to dig in. “¡Buen Provecho!” we both started with the Caprice, I served us both a slice and “OH MY GOODNESS” was it ever so good. The pizza had this garlicy taste to it and with those cherry tomatoes the flavors just popped in you mouth. My taste buds were going crazy, and she concurred. The pizza was ever so delicious. I killed my slice so quickly that before I would move on I waited for her so we could experience it together, she finished her slice then I served us a slice of the Meatball Pizza, and it was good… now to be fair had we not had the Caprice first I’m sure we would have had a much different experience with the Meatball Pizza but that Caprice just set the bar so high that we were like “Dang-it that’s good!” So both pizzas were good but I have already gone back a week later and only ordered the Caprice (YEAH, IT WAS THAT GOOD). I haven’t had anything else on the menu but even if I never do I was more than satisfied with the Caprice Pizza and I would be good with that. So if you’re ever in the area and you’re looking for a recommendation for a good pizza joint I would tell you to give Dewey’s a shot, I went in there blind and was FAR FROM BEING DISAPPOINTED! I certainly hope that my review helps you when trying to decide on where and what to eat....
Read moreWoooooow!!!!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS PLACE!! Taking it to the next level?!?! More like taking it to ANOTHER MTHER EFING PLANET!!!! I wish I could take all the stars from ALL the other pizza places and give it to Dewey’s. OR I WISH I could give NEGATIVE stars to every other pizza place!!!!
It was Mother’s Day. I went over to Dewey’s pizza with my wife, our 6 kids, my folks, my wife’s mom (widowed), my brother, his new wife and their 3 kids around 3:15 pm. IT WAS A BLAST.
Firstly, THEY HAVE A WINDOW INTO THE KITCHEN. It’s INSANE. I watched those guys make pizzas for a long time! It was astonishing. They can toss em’, they can spin em’, they can top em’. Name ANYTHING you can do to a pizza and they can do it to em’. I must’ve been watching for a long time because eventually my wife had to physically drag me by the ear back to our table.
Once back at the table, I was enthralled with how clean it was. The ornate canned lighting GLISTENED OFF THE TABLES LIKE THE SUN ON THE SEA. My wife said “time to open the menu honey”. So I did...
I COULDN’T believe the amount of pizza recipes made by some of our most famed heroes and beloved historical figures. THEY HAVE A PIZZA DESIGNED BY SOCRATES?! Who can believe that? How did they get his pizza recipe? Well. They did. I can kinda understand the Edgar Allen Poe one because he hasn’t been dead THAT long. The one that REALLY surprised me was the Green Lantern, I don’t even know he was real? I asked my server, but she just winked at me and said “it’s a secret.” To which I gasped.
My wife made me order, to which I yelled out “TWO OF EVERYTHING” to our server from across the room. Our pizzas came out in a very timely manner, 47 minutes (I had my eldest son time it).
Let me tell you about these pizzas: They were heavenly. I savored every bite. I took my time engaging with each kind of pizza, smelling it, breathing it in, and yes, tasting it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get time to try them all, my wife said we needed to leave and after a few minutes of arguing, we paid and left. Luckily my daughter Miranda suggested we take the rest of the pizza home with us. (She’s the prodigy child).
Overall, I’d say it was a pretty good experience.

PS. I forgot to mention one weird thing, our server’s name was Dewey! And so was out chef’s!!! And the bartender too!!!! What a coincidence! They all had “Dewey” on their shirts! Can you...
Read moreDewey’s in Lakewood is one of those places that just works. I come here a lot with my son, and it’s become one of our favorite pizza spots in the area. It’s not trying to be over-the-top or trendy. It’s just good.
The menu is straightforward, which I appreciate. You’re not flipping through pages trying to figure out what to order. The salads are always fresh, and they usually have a rotating pizza special, which is worth checking out on their website. Today I kept it simple with a pepperoni, and it hit the spot. No complaints.
They also have solid gluten-free options and even plant-based cheese, which is nice if you’re coming in with dietary restrictions. On top of that, the beer list is better than you’d expect for a pizza place, good mix of local and national craft brews that pair well with whatever you’re eating.
The atmosphere is great. Music’s always playing, the staff is friendly, and it’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable the second you walk in. That matters to me. I like going to restaurants where you feel welcome, not like you’re bothering someone by showing up.
Dewey’s gets it right. Great food, fair prices, good people. That’s all I’m...
