Horrible service by staff ,and owner extremely rude. After going here for years , today was our last day to ever return to this place. Here's what happened. My sister, I and my mom who uses a walker went in to have lunch. Waitress greeted us , took our order, told my sister coffee was not ready yet. Meanwhile mom had sat at a table right next to us since some of her friends were sitting there. One lady at her table spilled her water and it was all over the table. Since the waitress was busy, I went up to counter where I let the gal know about the water spill. She handed me the rag to wipe it up, YES! She handed it to me. Ok, I was not on staff there but I wiped it up. Waitress brought my sister's coffee and our lunch. My sister was waiting for a second cup of coffee but waitress never came back. The sign in the shop read above the coffee " no self serve " ok , my sister went up there and just stood there so she could get her refill, waitress came out of kitchen ,told her she couldn't stand there and to go back to table ,she would get her some. Never saw the waitress again, so I asked the gal behind the counter if she could get my sister some coffee, she said she was busy and it would have to wait. Well, we finished our lunch, sis waited 20 mins, still no coffee and we decided to leave. Sis then waited to pay and gal behind counter didn't keep track of who was next so my sister just put the money on the counter and said we were leaving. The gal got owner who then was rude to us and said we needed to be patient, my sister said how long should we wait for coffee ? He said 10 mins and my sister said she had waited 20 and still no coffee. Owner was upset and said he only had two people on staff today. Ok ,so because he's' either too cheap to hire another person to give good service or just doesn't care because he's the only German coffee shop in town. Then he waves us out the door in a hurry seeing my mom is in a walker and closes the door. Well, this explains why his staff is the way they are because they don't have a example of good service, let alone of being a good caring person. Maybe instead of a sign that reads no self service, they could maybe refill coffee before a customer had to go up and get their own. Customers came outside to let us know how bad the owner was and how this place has not been the same. It's sad that it has no competition, because I feel this place would go under. What a horrible nasty owner !...
Read moreSure, they have delicious pastries, but you pay a price for it, and I'm not talking just $. They have the strangest way of doing business, which is unnecessarily complicated & confusing. I have never experienced this before & I'm not young & have eaten in many countries including Germany. They charge 2 different prices for eat in & take out. Take out is cheaper, no plate to wash, no bringing it to your table. I told them I wanted to eat some of it there, with my friends, & take the rest home. That apparently wasn't possible, so I had to wait until I was leaving for them to hand me my pastry. We also did NOT understand that the 2 German businesses which are in the same building and have the same entrance have different owners! I saw the sign saying no outside food, which I assumed meant from Safeway or something. I proceeded to bring my bag of drinks from the deli (the other store) to share with my friends at the bakery side. No No! 2 of my friends use canes and needed to sit down as the line was slow. That's another No No! Can't sit at a table until you pay & then THEY will seat you when they get to you. The last of our No Nos! was when my friend saw the waitress serving someone else coffee & asked if she could have some. She waited & waited but it didn't come. She finally asked about it & there was confusion about they didn't have her order & the waitress went back to confirm with her coworkers. Then an older German woman came out and loudly, bending over the table towards my friend, proclaimed "You did not pay! You did pay. There is no order!. We clearly & obviously were new to the place, as they should have recognized and were doing our best. We'd been texting about going here, (to both businesses) for quite some time. We left with a sour taste in our mouths & I dare say none of us will return. I gave 2* instead of 1 as some of it may have been due to the language barrier,...
Read moreI just left this bakery and I am extremely disappointed in their manner of customer service. I understand the hours of operation is limited, and checked repeatedly throughout my drive to make sure I'm not taking up folks times unnecessarily. I stepped into the lobby at 3:40 p.m. time. Their posted hours indicated that they close at 4 p.m., so I would assume there's still enough time for me to pick up a few items. Upon entrance, there is no greetings whatsoever. (1)
I waited in line for 10-15 minutes, and when I came up to the counter hoping to be seen and pick out a cake slice (since it was my turn in line after all), I said "hello" to the lady and she looked me over, took her notepad and went to the customer who came in behind me to take their order instead. She never acknowledged my greetings nor returned them. (2) When I told them I was first in line and have been waiting for a while, no one offered any apologies for their negligence. (3) It was an awful experience, as I have never felt so disrespected.
This is my first time visit this bakery, but it seems they do not need my business, and that's perfectly fine. However, I would have appreciate a heads up upon refusal of service instead of being looked over. After this experience, I really do not care how good the pastry is over here. I drove over 30 minutes hoping for a pleasant experience, but this bakery wasn't worth my time driving + waiting at all. There are other bakeries in town who are kinder and more respectful of their customers' time. I truly hope other folks have a better experience than I did, but personally, I will not return here, nor will I ever recommend this place or speak highly of it to...
