If you’re anywhere near Denver and you love BBQ, The Tone is an absolute must. I’ve had BBQ all across the country, and this place easily makes my top list — and not just for the food (which is incredible), but the whole experience.

Let’s talk about the food first — starting with the wings. Hands down, these are the best wings I’ve ever had in the U.S. The buffalo flavor is everything you want: tangy, spicy, crispy on the outside, juicy inside. Absolute perfection.

The brisket was also a highlight. For Colorado standards, it was superb — smoky, tender, and packed with flavor. What took it over the top for me was their Zesty Mustard Sauce. That stuff should be bottled and sold — it’s bold, tangy, and paired perfectly with the brisket.

They’ve also got a great rewards program that’s actually worth using: • 1st visit: Free pulled pork sandwich (mine was fantastic) • 2nd visit: 3 free ribs • 3rd visit: 5 free wings (get the buffalo!)

Now for the service — truly next-level. Braiden took my order at the counter and later checked in at my table to make sure everything was great. Super friendly and professional. Cuyler, the manager, also came by to chat about the food — awesome guy, clearly passionate about the customer experience and what they’re serving. James helped me out with several different request I asked for, what a SUPERSTAR EMPLOYEE!

What really stood out to me, though, was the energy among the staff. Watching the way they interacted with each other, it’s clear they’re not just coworkers — they genuinely seem like friends who enjoy being there. That positive vibe spills over into the whole experience and makes the place feel warm, relaxed, and inviting.

Every employee was very friendly, welcoming, and kind, and the entire team gave off this upbeat, easygoing energy that made me want to stay longer.

And to top it all off, the music playing in the background was all Billboard Hot 100 hits — a fun, modern playlist that kept the vibe upbeat and current.

I paired my meal with the Perfect Drift Pilsner from 4Noses Brewing — crisp, clean, and the perfect match for rich BBQ flavors.

From the food to the staff to the overall atmosphere, The Tone is easily the best BBQ spot I’ve found in Denver. Great food, great people, great vibe — I’ll absolutely be...

I meant to do this the day of but that’s how I know that they are worth raving about because this place their service and their food is still on my mind 4 days later.

Upon entering GQ barbecue, my boyfriend and I were greeted by a very friendly and helpful man. We let him know it was our first time in, and he was very helpful and suggested a few options and drinks for us.

We placed our order he told us where to get drinks and he was very friendly. I’m emphasizing that because it’s hard to find that Anywhere these days. We got our number and found a spot to sit.

The food came out fairly quickly. The manager brought over our tray make sure we had everything we needed and left us to start grubbing. The food was delicious as Texas natives. We are always very curious about the types of barbecue here in Colorado. The mac & cheese was one of the best things on the menu. My boyfriend got a pound of pork and a pound of brisket, which was very well seasoned. Very delicious. I got the Thanksgiving sandwich with turkey cranberries and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were deliciously garlicky and nice and hot. They have a few barbecue sauces and they’re delicious as well. Our favorite was the original.

But to me, though the food was delicious, the service was incredible. Multiple times people came to check on us. Make sure we had everything we needed made sure that we were enjoying our food and really just came by and let us know that they’re there if we need them!

10/10 I’m going back today...

I am updating my review (2024): After a rocky 1st visit, we have been thoroughly impressed with GQUE'S food and service. I still recommend double checking your to go orders before you leave the store, but they are always helpful if something is missing.

We used their catering for our office ribbon cutting. Hilary was very helpful in assisting me with determining the amount of food we would need. Everything went smoothly for our pickup and our guests raved about the food.

This is a spot our family eats at at least once a month.

2023 Original review Great food - missing items in order. We ordered the specials of the day - plantains and pulled pork sliders and the siracha lime wings and sides of green beans and mashed potatoes. - all of it was delicious, but would have been even better with BBQ sauce on the sliders. Also, don't miss out on the ICE CREAM.

We went into the restaurant in person and ordered to go. They informed us we couldn't take our order until it was checked everything was in there - which is great. After it was checked by their team, we starting walking out the door and they chased after us as they had forgotten to put the gravy in the bag. Once we got home we discovered it was also missing the BBQ sauce as well. Normally I check my to go orders to make sure everything is in there, but they specifically told me I could not take my bag until they checked it, so I assumed it would be fine. I'm giving 4 stars for now - just because of how...

Good BBQ, owner clearly knows their way around a grill and has faithfully recreated N. Carolina BBQ, Texas BBQ and Nashville style. While it's not quite gonna take first place at the state fair, it won't be far behind. The chicken (on the chopped chicken burger) was nicely chopped, with a good hickey barbeque flavor. The Carolina burger was very unique, with a very nice Cole slaw. The only slightly nontraditional thing was the apple slaw, however it was very good. The only thing that was slightly disappointing was the meltdown (a cheese covered brisket sandwich). There was not much of a smoke ring on the meat. The cheese sauce on it was a nice texture addition, however the sauce had little 'cheese' flavor, more like a light white cheddar rather than a nice sharp aggrd cheddar. The barbeque beans were absolutely fantastic, would definitely go there just to eat them! Don't bother with the cheese fried, same issue with the cheese sauce on the meltdown. It might as well have been just a bechamel for lack of cheese flavor. Would recommend coming here if you are within 30 min of the area

So, we came for happy hour on Halloween (so we can get home in time to give out candy!!!). I ordered the dollar beer (hilarious) and a brisket and pulled pork slider. Oh and a side of mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was the star of the show. Really great cheese sauce! My husband got the Jasons favorite and fries (hand cut and delicious!). The meat, sadly, was dry, and even more sadly, a bit boring. If you give me a slider with just meat on a bun, that meat better sing to me. It better be slapping me in the face with greasy delicious barbecuey-ness. This meat was mumbling to itself at a corner table. Granted, there was a selection of three sauces on the table, but the sauces weren’t anything I hadn’t tasted before and didn’t make the meat not dry. My husband liked his sandwich, but it was smothered in that great cheese sauce! My overall thoughts- I’d try it again, and go for something different (the wings looked great!) or just order the delicious sides. Also, the staff was wonderful and friendly.
