New, vibrant location of Phoenix located in Lakewood. The storefront is small and modest, but the inside is bright, inviting, and contains a fair amount of seating for solo or double visitors. A larger couch space with small table is also along the back. You’ll find the usual Phoenix cafe drinks, some local pastries and bagels, and like more and more of their locations, some plants from Sixth City Cycles on display. Currently there isn’t much merch for sale and only a small selection of whole beans located in the back near the plant shelf, but room to expand in the future.
This part of Lakewood isn’t as busy as Detroit Ave yet, and you can usually find some free street parking along the side streets. Or just pay for the meters on Madison Ave.
Business was pretty slow on a weekday when I was there, but the two staff members were very friendly and also got along nicely with the various vendors and regulars who stopped by. Great Wi-Fi and good positioning of outlets for those who need to work. The baristas are also in charge of music selection - the soundtrack was eclectic but tasteful, ranging from old school hip hop to trance. There’s a vinyl player in the back and lots of posters for local performers, so clearly they have an appreciation for good beats.
An unmarked door at the end of the barista counter with a piece of masking tape reading “Restroom” will lead to a gender-neutral bathroom. It’s spacious and kept clean. Just don’t forget to lock the door on...
Read moreI just moved and had to leave my favorite local coffee shop. While walking my dog today I saw this place open with water bowls for dogs outside. I asked if I could bring my dog in to order, which they allowed (can't let dogs hang out inside, but will let you order). That was a huge plus already. THEN they had oat milk and vegan options. It was SO cheap. I ordered a dirty chai and bought 3 pastries, it was only $11. The workers were so helpful and so sweet. They sell plants! It is adorable inside and I cannot wait to go back to buy their whole bean coffee to make at home. It was such a welcoming atmosphere to my dog and I, even though she's insane and I was covered in dog drool and sweat from our walk. Some of the sweetest baristas I have had the pleasure to order...
Read moreJust visited this coffee shop and wanted to share my honest review with you all. The atmosphere in the shop was incredibly relaxing and calming. The coffee was alright, but it just wasn't my type. However, I must say, the price for the food was quite overpriced. Another downside was that the barista didn't ask whether we wanted our coffee for here or to go, so we ended up having to drink from paper cups even though we were dining in. Overall, it was a mixed experience, but if you're looking for a peaceful ambiance, this place might be...
