I just returned from happy hour with my coworkers, and boy am I satisfied!
The interior is richly themed and aggressive. Wood carvings, gritty artwork, and plenty of antlers bring the whole "Viking Bar" theme to life. The heavy metal music in the background adds a nice touch.
I'm no cocktail connoisseur, but the selections peaked my interest. I went with a classic Sazerac ($6 during Happy Hour), which was like a sweet Manhattan. Next time I would like to sample their beer selection.
The food menu is small, which I greatly appreciate. Pricing is very reasonable, and you simply cannot beat their Happy Hour pricing. Cajun Pork Cracklins w/ Remoulade for $3, and their Burger w/ Herbed Chevre and Arugula for $8. Seriously, you cannot beat that.
The Cracklin' was crispy and the Remoulade was super flavorful. I ordered my burger mid-rare, which really came out mid-well. But the bun was excellent, and the Burger had a fantastic char-broiled flavor. Roasted Tomato, Arugula, Caramelized Onion, and Herbed Chevre were great compliments. Their Chipotle Aioli and house Ketchup are a perfect hot/sweet duo for their fries.
I think this place does a nice job of offering an environment that welcomes a variety of patrons. The food and drink are enough to keep them coming, and the hard work that was put into bringing this place together makes the fruit of their labors even sweeter. I look forward to sharing this place with my friends and returning many times...
Read moreOur recent experience at LBM was so unpleasant that it’s impossible to stay silent. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that hospitality is not a priority here. There was no hostess at the front, yet multiple barstools were open. Thinking it was okay to seat ourselves, we approached the bar, only to be met with hostility from the bartender, who aggressively snapped, “You are NOT allowed to sit here”. There were no signs or instructions indicating otherwise, but we obliged and returned to the host stand. When the hostess finally showed up, she didn’t greet us or offer a smile—just a cold glare that could rival the warmth of a brick wall. Her only words, dripping with condescension, were, “You can’t just go up to the bar and assume you can sit there.” The audacity and lack of basic customer service were shocking. We left immediately as within 5 minutes of being there, the experience was just as dismissive and borderline aggressive. This wasn’t the first time we’ve encountered rude staff at LBM, but this particular encounter was the cherry on top. It solidified our decision to never step foot in this establishment again. If you’re looking for a welcoming environment or even basic respect, look elsewhere— LBM...
