East End Bistro & Pub — Restaurant in Lakewood

My hub & I keep a list of area patios & decided to try the East End's patio tonight. Nice patio, although nothing fancy. There are plenty of tables on the patio & options for a sunny or shady spot. Lots of space between the tables, which was good because we appeared to be pretty much the only non-smokers on the patio out of maybe 25 people. The beer list was pretty basic & disappointing- Bud, Bud Light, Labatt's , but they did offer a Reingeist which my hub enjoys. I'm a wine drinker -- they had 1 white & 1 red, neither a type that I'm a fan of, but the chardonnay I settled for was decent, all in all. They have a pretty extensive menu of bar food apps, burgers & sandwiches, some pizzas, plus a few "full meals".Food & service were really quite good. Personable, efficient servers. We ordered philly steak. wings, tater tots & enjoyed all. I asked for a diff type of cheese & no mushrooms on my philly steak & both were willingly & accurately accomodated. Not sure if we'll return & would give this place an add'l star/ return for sure were it not for the feeling that the entire patio is for smokers. I used to be a regular. Prices were a lot cheaper about 2 years ago. When I first started going it was so much cheaper and the food was amazing! Eventually my regulars snacks like mozzarella stuck. One time I ordered them then the bar tender said’ oh I guess their triangles now” but tasted terrible. One time I had a steak dinner on special (while the owner was there at the time). It was the perfect steak and baked potato. Then my husband and I try to get a steak the same special. DISGUSTING terrible and everything has gone down hill since we’ve been going. The prices are higher and the food has been from high quality to disgusting quality. We were loyal but will never go there again even today the place smelled like fish, weird air freshener, and the stink bathroom that the place always smells like, a sticky poop/ pee bathroom that makes the whole place smell. I've been here many times. Typically the food is great and the service is above average. I really like the wings and the quesadillas. Today I arrived at 4:30. The place was relatively empty. Kelsey was solo on the bar. She was very engaging and did a great job. But then the owner left and the patrons started arriving. Kelsey was overwhelmed. Service sucked. I decided to leave to eat and drink elsewhere because I couldn't get taken care of. I am not sure if the crowd was surprisingly large or whether they cant find employees for proper staffing. I ended up going to Loco Leprechaun in Westlake, which I hadn't been to in a while and got great service and quick food. My friends who stayed at East End didnt have their food, even as I left Loco. I feel bad since I told them it was a great place to eat. I won't be back anytime soon. I won't be recommending it...
