Worst dining experience of my life. I was seated at the Teppan grill with the wife and my parents, then we were forced to wait 45-grueling minutes for the chef to arrive. It was Friday and the place was busy. The chef finally arrived, fumbling and stumbling thru the presentation. I almost felt sorry for the guy. He couldn't seem to do anything right, and had as much personality as a toilet seat. Our party of four was seated next to another party of four as is customary, which was fine with everyone. Everyone was ravenous. The chef served chicken to my wife who had ordered beef, and served beef to the lady next to her when she had ordered chicken. He slopped rice and vegetables everywhere as he worked.
We complained to the drink server who remarked our chef had received numerous complaints and she was astounded he hadn't yet been fired. She promised to speak to the owner and apologized to use profusely. A few minutes later the owner arrived with the chef in-tow and berated him in front of everyone. Precisely how NOT to handle the situation. This place is embarrassing.
Don't waste your time or money folks. Never again! They really should remodel the place anyway. The equipment is old,...
Read moreGrowing up in Lancaster, there's a certain nostalgia attached to this place. It was usually a special occasion to go to Tokyo steakhouse. I hadn't been in a while and I was excited to go last weekend. All that excitement was slowly drained by how disappointing this place has become. Dilapidated walls and ceiling adorn the whole inside and random corners are stuffed with boxes and trash. There are chairs in the lobby blocking the exit, which I'm sure is a fire hazard, let alone how awkward it is to open the wrong door and walk into the backs of people sitting inside the doorway. Add to that, the fact that a waitress quasi-rudely shouted at me to shut both doors. The food was ok except for the fact that there seems to be a discrepancy between medium and medium rare with the cook, which wouldn't be a problem except for the meal is damn near 30 bucks a person and if I order medium rare steak there should at least be a tiny bit of pink in it. It's the AV and east Lancaster at that, so I don't expect a fine dining experience, it's just a bummer to see another staple of my youth slip past mediocre and into...
Read moreThe food was great. No problem there. Best steak in town IMO. Even the lobster was good and to be honest I thought it wouldn't be good, but it was. The staff is very friendly and efficient, all of them. So, I dropped a lot of money here and I'll be going back for those reasons. The one thing I noticed they can improve on is the place is getting really old. The ceiling looks awful. If you are gonna fry food in there then get a ceiling you can clean. It is also very dark in there and it probably should be dark right now so that you can't see the wear and tear. The walls and carpet can really do with a remodeling. And to be honest it was very hot in there long before the grill was even turned on and it wasn't even busy. REALLY hot. I think it's a shame that they have the right food and service but the wrong atmosphere. They need to remodel or move. They need a makeover. Call Gordon Ramsey, he can help. But overall, its great place to eat and I will put up with the dinginess to go back. I'm a regular guy and I'm...
