Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Lanham

Just finished eating lunch. New location. I went through the drive through and although the line was long they were quick. Splits into 2 lines with order takers outside. They give you a takeout menu. I ordered the chicken club sandwich combo with fries and Diet Coke no ice and an order of 3 chicken tenders with honey mustard sauce and an Oreo milkshake. $20 for order.

Please filter your water in your soda machine. I ordered my Diet Coke without ice for a reason to see if their water is filtered. It is not!! Tasted the chlorine in the water. Not good for a brand new place already cutting corners.

Fries are not good! Taste like I made them from frozen. Plain tasting. Positive is that they were not salty.

Chicken club sandwich was very very salty. I ate it because I was hungry and it was delicious and substantial in size. I guess because there is bacon and cheese on this sandwich that is why it was super salty? Why not have packets of sauce for the sandwich? It needed sauce so I put my honey mustard sauce from my tenders on this.

3 Chicken tenders were tasty and delicious and had right amount of salt on them. Honey mustard sauce I ordered with them was nothing special.

Oreo milkshake was delicious but for $4 should have been a larger size. It’s just a regular size. Not worth getting again. I do appreciate the styrofoam cups for the shake and drink to keep them cold. They use plastic straws though. Why?

Their competition is across the street (Chick-fil-A). Yeah not! I will continue to eat at Chick-fil-A as their food is much better and tastier. This place has to step it up if they want to compete with a leader like Chick-fil-A

UPDATE 8-4-21: I went back through the drive thru as I received a $10 gift card for joining their club before they had opened and went to get my swag bag and $10 card last week. Manager acted like he didn’t know about the promotion. Good thing there were 5 other people behind me there to claim their prize.

I spent the gift card today and bought the chicken sandwich which was good and the 5/5 wings & tenders meal. Also got a Oreo shake. To cut $$$ corners they did away with the styrofoam cup for the shake. Just a plastic cup now. Melts fast in this heat. A few of the tenders were small and 2 were torn apart. 3 Wings were very small and 2 were big. Fries tasted ok. Wings are nothing special. I do like their tenders as they are tasty (See photos)

Drive through line moved slooooowly even through there were not a lot of cars.

Update 1-16-22: prices are way up! Club sandwich went from $5.99 to $7.29 and all menu prices are all up. Meals went up over $2....

I ordered for curbside pickup. This was my first time, normally we order as a group and someone else does the pick up. I didn't know I had to call in when I got there, guess I thought they were magic. The very nice gentleman on the answering side asked for my name and said he'd be right out with my order...it was a few minutes later, but I had already been disappointed by their lack of magic and was feeling a little pinned in on the time out of the office. A young lady brought my food out and back to work I went. When I got to work, there was some acknowledgement of the great smelling bag I brought back and then some complaints that I didn't make an announcement of where I was going. After calming everyone's hangry nerves I settled in to eat. The chicken strips were juicy and crunchy..an amazing combo. The flavor is like my Momma's was. The French fries NEVER fail, and the hot white gravy I forget to order extra was hot and very complimentary to the strips and the fries that I chose to generously dip into. The bread usually has the same fate, but I ran out...again that was my heartfelt blunder. I shipped on root beer with light ice and then turned to my favorite part of Slim's menu...the strawberry cheesecake jar( I currently have 9 and plan to reuse them for Christmas gifts for my colleagues. I'm quite crafty...this dessert melts in your mouth. The whip cream is sweet and cold and amazing. The strawberries are cut into bite sizes and are sweet and juicy. The cheesecake...oh the cheesecake. It is sweet and it almost melts in your mouth. There is always a little cheesecake left over once you figure out how to get a little of all three in one bite. I didn't have it this time, because my coworkers are Judgy Judys, but if you should be torn between the Strawberry Cheesecake jar and the OH MY GOODNESS chocolate jar of heaven ...choose both!!!! I recently had the pleasure of visiting Slim Chickens in Bowie, MD, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The combination of delicious food, friendly service, and a warm atmosphere made it a memorable dining experience.

First and foremost, the chicken tenders at Slim Chickens were out of this world. They were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. Each bite was packed with flavor, and I couldn't get enough of them. If you're a fan of chicken tenders, you won't be disappointed here.

In addition to the chicken tenders, I had the pleasure of trying the Oreo cookie cheesecake, and it was a sweet delight. The creamy texture combined with the rich Oreo flavor was a match made in dessert heaven. It was the perfect ending to a satisfying meal.

My wife opted for the chicken and waffles, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The chicken was cooked to perfection, with a crispy coating that complemented the fluffy waffles perfectly. The combination of savory and sweet was simply delectable.

What truly stood out during our visit was the excellent service provided by Arthur. He went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable dining experience. He was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about our satisfaction. Arthur's exceptional service added a personal touch to our meal, and we truly felt well taken care of.

The overall ambiance of Slim Chickens was cozy and inviting, with a clean and well-maintained dining area. The staff was friendly and welcoming, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dining.

Based on this outstanding experience, I can confidently say that the next time I find myself in the Bowie, MD area, I will definitely be returning to Slim Chickens.
