The service was friendly, the environment was clean and decorated aesthetically. The music was interesting i guess- mostly pop hits from the early y2k like katie Perry and taylor swift. some lofi or house music woulda made the environment even better in my opinion. My gf & I ordered right away and our food was ready quickly without any mistakes or miscommunications. Our food was yummy, but my gf is sushi connoisseur & didn't completely love her rolls. I got miso soup and it was just broth with a few cubes of soggy tofu... At other restaurants they usually have more scallions or a bit of seaweed or some sort of additional veggie in the miso soup. My sushi was great- I am vegan so I got the green monster rolls. my gf tried mine and liked mine better than her non-vegan rolls. After we finished eating, we sat for 20 minutes with our waitress not returning to give us the check or give us boxes. I ended up going up to her to pay because we had to leave and were tired of waiting for a full half-hour... She seemed to have gotten busy with helping people take care of their carryout orders, so it felt like the establishment was a bit understaffed.

(2025) +1 star from previous review. Visited Mikado after work today with coworkers. The service was a bit slow, but the staff are exceptionally nice. We got a few freebie appetizers and a free dessert to split amongst us, so that was a nice surprise! The rolls themselves were good but some bites didn't taste super fresh. There was not a lot of variation in taste between the rolls I got. The rolls had a good ratio of rice to inside goodies. Food was presented well! (2017) The staff are wonderful here. Their sushi is priced well and made well. My only complaint is they put so much onion in your fried rice that you may as well ordered straight onion! Their seafood udon is amazing, and filling! I did get a hard thing (Sand? Glass?) in my half of the sweetheart roll, pictured. Other than that it was good...

Sushi was truly spectacular with lots of varieties to select from. Menu contained photos for each item so very helpful in figuring out what you might want to try. Had four different types of sushi, crunchy eel was favorite. Be sure to ask for eel sauce. Japanese themed restaurant though they played American music. Food came out fast. We were the only two in the restaurant, yet waitress was slow on refilling our water. Normally I don't like ginger but their's went well with the sushi. Also had Korean bimbimbap, delicious! Overall highly recommended.

Previously gave it 4 stars but, I went back recently and I was very disappointed.

Immediately upon entering the smell of sewage hit me. I assumed that there was some sort of plumbing situation going on so I didn't immediately scamper.

I ordered my favorite, the "matsu" and while waiting I looked around. It seemed as if the restaurant hadn't been cleaned in a while, which was a shame. There were dirty paths in the carpet, the walls had what looked to be liquid splattered on them, and decorations were dusty. Perhaps it was the dirty carpet giving off the stench.

When my food arrived I was disappointed again as the avocado that came in the roll as part of the matsu was brown. Usually the ingredients are fresh and delicious but this time it was entirely unappetizing.

The staff were friendly and prompt with service. Unfortunately good service alone isn't enough.

I've been coming here since they were across the street in the old taco bell, and like I said earlier, this has been my worst experience. I rated them 4 in the past, if half stars were possible it would have been 4.5. I rate it 2 now because I hope they can correct whatever is going on. I will give them one more shot but another visit like that...

I've gone both here and the previous location on probably once a month since moving to the southeast side of lansing. Their sushi and sashimi are quite good. I recently had an incorrect order (where a shrimp tempura roll was missed). When confronted about it the person on the phone was dismissive about the complaint. As such, I can't recommend this place. Generally they provide good food, but unfortunately, when they make a mistake, they are unwilling to make it right. Therefore, if you go here for takeout, I highly recommend you check your food prior to leaving the restaurant so that you can be sure they did not make a mistake. They are generally quite accurate so I won't claim that no one should go there, but customer service is unfortunately poor. For those reading my rating is averaging the years of good food against the unfortunately poor...
