Something told me to check bag before I left, Thankfully I did!! Seemed my order was quite simple, however it was a complete mess!! BLT had barely any bacon. Fries were supposed to be "loaded". There were MAYBE 8-12 fries just in container, nothing on them. I was supposed to get green beans w ham as well, that was completely missing!!! The breakfast plate I ordered did not have the blueberries I paid $3 extra for, very small portion of shredded hashbrowns. Ordered side of bacon almost $5, that was completely missing as well!! Brought it to young woman's attention about fries first, she walked away and came back w fries that someone through bacon bits on and shredded cheese not even TRYING TO WARM THEM UP! Had to warm them in microwave at home which made them taste 10x worse!! I Told her about green beans, she brought back another lady who said "I don't have green beans right now! I can get u corn or something else!" Well.. I didn't want or order "corn, or something else", the person who ordered that wanted green beans and ham! So I'll just take a refund. She rolled her eyes, went in the back and a man came out. Asking if I wanted green beans and ham, saying "it would only take a few minutes to make". I said that's fine, I'll wait. I think they were out of a frozen bag and thrown in microwave, again I could have done that at home, way cheaper! The other girl brought out side of bacon that was old and cold. I admit I started my order online about 815-820, which is too late. When I was done it wouldn't let me send it so I called. She ended up taking order over phone. I know they were in a hurry to get out of there, I felt bad ordering that late just got out if work later than expected. Son and boyfriend had their heart set on Bob Evans so, I thought it wld be ok being a smaller, more simple order. I was wrong unfortunately. I feel if it would have been done right the FIRST TIME, I could have been out the door. I even ran inside so she didn't have to come out in the rain!! There were still people in the restaurant part of it so it was not just me holding them up. I apologized for ordering so late as well. The floor was dripping wet, no floor signs. Young man waiting by door was with staff, skating all over the floor. I realize he was younger (16-17) but your in a restaurant, not fun land. Staff was not very polite at all especially with all of the issues w my order!! I never even got apology or anything close to it!! For any of it! Not even the tip! When I paid I didn't even get a Thank you! Thought that was pretty rude as well! I remember Bob Evans as more of a family place growing up. They definitely changed! Prices went up and moral went WAY DOWN! Almost $40 for 2 people to eat? I didn't even get myself anything! I thought that was pretty expensive as well. Not impressed at all. More than likely will not be back. Given them about 3 chances in the last 6 months and have been disappointed each time!! This one...
Read moreThis location is now adding a menu surcharge for carry out to cover costs of the packaging. Yet carry out business saves cleaning tables and occupying space when crowded. It allows less staff to do more. I historically come here frequently for carry out but will be reconsidering returning or reducing greatly my visits because I feel this surcharge is unfair.
I did contact the regional office and they indicated all Bob Evans franchises have the same price and most places charge extra now for carry out not just Bob Evans. I can state unequivocally that is false. I had gone to Bob Evans for carry out about once a week and the carry out surcharge was new this week. Also as one who buys carry out at many of the competitors of Bob Evans this is first encounter in area I have had of a special carry out surcharge. To name a few Texas Roadhouse, Leo’s Coney Island, and Cracker Barrel sell carry out at same price as dine in. So it is not that common in industry in our area. My assertion is if one can’t afford to operate a business at the dine in menu prices being same for carry out then raise them for all. It is a debatable issue if a carry out customer really costs a restaurant more than a dine in customer when all operating costs are considered.
I also called corporate headquarters and apparently it is a national effort by Bob Evans to bring in more money. Apparently they have a separate menu for carry out with higher prices on same food. Part of my frustration is I was ordering off of the dine-in menu at this location and I didn’t know a separate carry out one even existed with higher prices. Instead I was just told there is a surcharge the manager added. I am happy to know the reality of the situation now and it will inform how many times I return to Bob Evans as I almost always...
Read moreWorst restaurant experience in a long time. Biscuits had the same texture as crackers. Sausage gravy was overcooked sausage and bechamel. Never shall the two meet. I got the biscuits and gravy meal. Egg was fine actually. Wife got chicken with carrots and asked for a side of "white gravy." Waitress seemed confused and eventually figured out that we meant "country gravy." My wife used to go here just for their chicken. This time she said it was "meh" at best. Carrots tasted strangely like plastic and were cold.
As for the service, took us 15 minutes to be greeted by our waitress. Another 10 (being generous) to get our drinks. A coffee and a water. Also, my wife asked for a side of biscuits before the meal. After 15 min she brought the (terrible) biscuits and after another 15 min she said our food was almost ready. At that point we asked for refills (again, coffee and water) and she noticed my wife didn't have silverware and (I could not make this up if I tried) asked if she needed them.
Another 10 min later the food came out and the one egg was the only enjoyable part of the meal. We also had to ask (again) for refills for our drinks since she never got around to it (WATER and COFFEE).
After 10 minutes of struggling to get down our meals, we were just done. Another 15 min without our waitress checking on us I went to the counter to get our check.
The manager on duty seemed sincerely apologetic and refunded our check. However, we saw him there the ENTIRE TIME and he didn't help out at all before then. We honestly thought he was the bus boy.
We used to love this place and now I feel we'll...
