Pretty good price, pretty good spread. Come when it's just opened for the best deal.
Pricing is pretty solid, expect to pay around ten dollars a person (including a drink) for the lunch buffet and around 15 (also including drink) for dinner. When dinner comes out there's some different foods, but if you like the lunch foods come right when it opens. That way everything will be stocked and freshly put out, ensuring you get the best meal.
The meat is about what you'd expect, a little grizzle here and there but generally pretty good. Personal favorite is the peanut butter chicken. Sounds like a weird or bad combination but you'd be shocked. They have the general stock you expect and even sushi, though I've yet to try it.
Environment is good and staff is friendly, nothing really wrong. Drinks are a little expensive, but what're ya gonna do. That's usually where they get ya, no matter the place. Food quality doesn't majorly change with dinner, so probably go super early to get the most out of your meal.
As normal for me giving four stars, it's good, even great, not blowing my mind but very definitely a...
Read moreLooking for a place to break up with your insignificant other? Roped into an undesired date? Like chewing on rubber balls and rocks? Then this place is for you! I didn't know you could make chicken that tough, but they even managed to ruin the sweet and sour chicken bites that anywhere else would be like biting into a cloud. It has a lovely setting inside with a lot of space and randomly selected music tracts that they probably found at a thrift store, but if you want to experience utter disappointment in a culinary setting and ruin your whole evening, dine here. The other food was mediocre as expected for a buffet and often cold and mushy, but the price was higher than average for a buffet and I understand why it's usually empty because no one should have to pay to eat that. School food is better than that! I'll be sure to go out of my way to the one in Imlay or Flint when I want edible food. I've given this place a few chances, but it seems worse...
Read moreIf price is no object the food was good but $10 for lunch plus a tip was a little much. The food at New China Buffet in Imlay City was just as good and lunch was under $7 bucks plus tip. Also went went there for dinner one night with friends about a week ago. I did not pay but got a peek at the bill. I think it was $68 for 5 of us to eat. A little over $13.50 each. Not a bad price for dinner but the menu was the same. No premium items like crab legs were added so why the higher price? I think the best bang for your buck is New China Buffet in Imlay City unless you have a problem with the short ride from Lapeer to Imlay City. New update 3-14-17. I found out that both places are owned by the same people and imlay city lunch now cost 8.99. How interesting. They told me that the higher price in lapeer was because it had the fresh sushi bar and the Mongolian BBQ. Then why the price change...
