ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT BE BACK
Last night my parents and I visited for an early Father’s Day dinner. It wasn’t busy and we were sat right away.
After waiting about 30 min after ordering, we finally got the soup that was ordered but we had to ask three separate times for silverware. After another 15 minutes, our food came out. One steak and fries was ice cold and the combo platter was ice cold so those were sent back. About 10 min later the combo plater was brought back out by the blonde female “manager” (and I use that term loosely). She just put it on the table and walked away. Never said a word. Well the ribs were warm but the rest of the food was still cold. They literally either put the plate in the over to attempt to warm it or threw it in the microwave which means the middle and everything under the ribs wasn’t getting warmed. So that was sent back. Now the “manager” comes out with an attitude on level 100. She tried to tell us that the food was all freshly made, she watched them remake it, and all this other stuff when it’s obvious it was a lie. The onion rings were solid mush which means they were re warmed, the fries that had cheese on them had congealed cheese on them, and the ribs were tough and chewy. All of that is signs of re warmed food and not remade food. When we pointed that out she immediately got angry and said she’d just take it off the bill. So my dad, who we were there celebrating, didn’t even get to have dinner.
Finally I got my steak back which was hot but burnt to a crisp. I can eat well down steak but this was charred on the outside to the point it was like biting through a piece of coal. Even the zip sauce didn’t soften it up.
The ENTIRE staff needs a new training session. Managers need trained on how to talk to customers (the blonde female needs fired honestly), servers need trained on how to rotate tables and bring things in a timely manner, host staff needs trained on how to bring things like menus AND silverware to a table when seating guests as well as acknowledging guests when they walk in instead of gossiping and on...
Read moreI'll start off by saying I rarely ever write reviews. This place deserves it. Somehow, my boyfriend and I have lived in Lapeer since November and haven't made it out to Lucky's Blindfish Grill until last night. We both ordered the NY Strip medium well. Originally upon cutting into it it looked the slightest too pink, but not enough to send back. Thank goodness we decided to keep eating. It was genuinely the best steak either of us have had within a dining experience. I wish I could personally thank the line cook who prepared them. It was charred in all the best spots. The seasoning was spot on and the flavor was honestly amazing. I kept saying "this is so good" while eating it. I was craving a good steak so bad that night and so happy we decided to go to Lucky's. The entree meals come with the free breading at the beginning, one side AND a choice of soup or salad. We had been to a Lucky's style of restaurant before, I believe it was a Lucky's Steakhouse in a different location. The breading here was the best. It was softer and not overly seasoned. My boyfriend got the salad and I got the chunky potato soup. He's happy because it's one of the fewer restaurants that carry Italian as a dressing option. My soup was better than the ones I've had before. It was thicker and tasted twice as good. Tasted like a good simple potato soup rather than an overly microwaved watery base that shouldn't have been served at other locations. The two of us got all this food, two crisp Cokes, and took home leftovers all for under $60. Definitely the best bang for your buck. We went yesterday on a Monday night between maybe 6-7. The dining room was busier than I originally thought for a Monday night, but now I can see why. We are excited to return again during a weekend visit. Our host was promt to wipe off a booth for us and did so quickly and with a smile on her face. Our server did fantastic, was quick to put our orders in and was great in a professional setting. Good job. Now one of only 3 restaurants in Lapeer we'll be visiting...
Read moreIf you're familiar with Lucky's steakhouse the quality here won't surprise you, and the space will feel familiar. The floorplan is identical, but there is a sea food vibe about the place. The lobby reminded me of the places on the coast.
The menu is actually pretty expansive with something for everyone. Obviously lots of great seafood options, but there's burgers and steaks, salads and soups, chicken and appetizers glore. There's also an ample wine, beer, liquor, and mixed drink menu, with a bar you could grab a drink from while you wait for your table. There is of course the famous chewy Lucky's bread brought out with your drinks. The kids menu also has a lot of options and the portions were generous. Prices are actually quite reasonable, particularly when you see the quality and portions.
Everyone at our table had something different. My son's fish and chips was fantastic and portioned like an adult plate, which was great because we all had to have a bite. My wife had a chicken salad, which again was a generous portion, the chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I had scallops, salmon, and shrimp scampi with the brussel sprouts. All of it was delectable, especially the scallops. Our other guests had stuffed grouper, which is also served at other Lucky's locations and every bit as good.
Service, like everything else about Lucky's again fell right in line with my expectations from other locations. Everything was served in good time, nicely prepared and presented, and of course the staff were attentive.
TLDR, You can't go wrong here. I personally avoid chain restaurants as much as possible, but Lucky's delivers a unique and premium experience that surpasses most other...
