LOVE Sams, have been going since I was a kid. Would LOVE to give a 5 star review but just can't. The food is always good, staff are great but the lack of wheel chair accessibility makes me not give a 5 star review.
Front door has a LARGE bump for a wheel chair. Doors do not have buttons to hold open and are extremely hard to navigate with a wheel chair.
The only table to sit a wheel chair at leaves you in the middle of the walk way and is not a great experience as everyone has to either bumb into you or walk all the way around you.
The bathroom is located at the back with a VERY tight sharp 90° turn to get to it. Bathroom is so small and does not accommodate the wheel chair.
There is a ramp at the back, however is is extremely steep and always very greasy as they take the restaurants garbage out on. Even with a person infront and a person in back of the chair it is still a horrible ramp.
I understand it's an old building but some accommodations for wheel chairs would make me visit...
Read moreLoved this place! We met family here for dinner on our trip. I have a picky daughter when it comes to food but this place was an exception. She loved her chili dog and fries. My son had the BLT and he loved it. My wife also had the chili dog and she was also very pleased. I had the flint style coney dog and immediately fell in love with it! I even ordered a second one. We had an order of fried pickles that were like no other fried pickles we've ever had. They had a little bite to them that really added to our addiction for them. Our server was awesome. So friendly and happy. You would never know this gem was there if you were driving by. Prices were more awesome. We were there around 6:30 and stayed until 8. The locals were coming in for their take out orders frequently which told me this place had a good reputation. Don't pass...
Read moreIn the near Flint area, we have a delicacy in the form of a hotdog. But, it's not just any hotdog. The locals here have a name for it based on it's origins, Flint Style Coney Island. Having grown up on this variety of cylindrical perfection, I can say that Sam's Coney Island is close to the original Angelo's that started in Flint Michigan. While Detroit style must be eaten on a plate due to the chili topping, Flint Style can be hand held and eaten on the go. To be an authentic Flint Style, the hotdog must be a Koegel's Vienna sausage, steamed bun, and a spiced meat topping with mustard. Order it "With" to include onions. What Sam's get right is the dedication to the original recipe. If you have never tried a Flint Style Coney Island, stop in and try one for yourself. You find yourself craving them long after...
