07/14/23 - just had a terrible experience at Palenque Grill. We were there for a family gathering and I ordered the Poblano Chicken plate - when I was about to start eating it I saw there was a hair about an inch long on the rim of the plate almost touching the food. I immediately notified the staff who took the plate without saying anything and rushed off. I had lost my appetite and they didn’t offer an apology or any type of explanation. I had to flag them down to tell them not to bring me another plate to which they responded “le traigo algo mas?” Still no apology. I said no and made it clear that I had lost my appetite and they just walked away. Since this was a family gathering I had to sit and wait until everyone was done. When the check was brought out they made sure to add their $10 gratuity and after my husband asked to speak to the manager to make him aware of the situation we were given a weak forced “disculpa” from waitress. I get that it was out of her control, but she is the person presenting the food and should have handled the situation rather than pretend it didn’t happen. The manager, didn’t seem to understand the frustration and why it was wrong of them to brush off the incident and forget to apologize. They surely didn’t forget to tip themselves. Overall a terrible experience, overpriced food, and...
Read moreI was traveled to South Texas with a good of military students. This location also highly recommended by our colleagues from Border Patrol following our tour of the U.S. Mexican Border. Our group was seated in a small event room that accommodated us all comfortably. Drinks, chips, and salsa were out within minutes of us being seated. Our orders were taken by Angelo and Javier. These two took extremely great care of us, ensuring all orders were taken accurately, and all of our orders came out at the same time and was 100% accurate. The two were very attentive, and I don't recall running out of chips, salsa, or soda. The checkout process was extremely convenient, and Angelo and Javier did not apply to mandatory gratuity for such a large group. Even by doing this, they didn't solicit a tip, which made me want to tip more than what the standard tip was.
I ordered the Arrachera, and the steak was cooked perfectly!
Pros Location Ample parking(event for a bus) Good food Reasonably priced Excellent customer service
Cons None that I can think of
I HIGHLY recommend this spot, and I look forward to returning...
Read morePersonally ordered the $35 Mar y Tierra with includes FAJITA steak (picture included) & I was completely disappointed due to it was very greasy/chewy/gummy & strongly believe this should not be in your restaurant at all BECAUSE Your place is at a higher scale to serve this unpleasant fajita steak. It was replaced with the $50 Rib-Eye Steak tasting much better & this should probably be your entry level steak, yet I was still disappointed because BOTH STEAKS served above WERE ABOUT 1/2" thick INSTEAD OF A 1" THICK traditional restaurant cut. I am surprised how the mgr said he's been there 5 yrs & has not had such complaint. The frijoles charros were excellent, the rice ok, the guacamole ok, the shrimp ok - When my plate was replaced w/the Rib-Eye Steak, it came with FOUR VERY TASTY LANGOUSTINES (aka prawns) & THIS FLAVOR WAS SOMETHING TO BRAG ABOUT ( I did love these, Thank you) Your live music is a good touch, The uniforms on your staff give restaurant a good presentation, the inside is clean & very nice. Everything else in the ticket, carne asada, puntas de filete...
