Taco Palenque San Bernardo — Restaurant in Laredo

I agree with many thatTaco Palenque is about great food and about having polite friendly service. Today, I am very disappointed. I don't think I could trust this restaurant for a while after my experience today. After work I stopped by to pick up a taco and soup for little child. I was told to wait for my order in a specific numbered parking. As I waited for several minutes I noticed that a truck in front of mine got an order. While the worker left to pick up something that seemed to be missing from that bag, the guy's in the truck kept handling and examining the food in the bag. When the worker returned, the guy's in the truck returned the food bag that they found out was not their order. The employee went in the restaurant and came back outside immediately to give that bag to me. The bag belonged to me. But it had not been replaced. The employee said it had been replaced. I went inside the store to verify with supervisor. She did acknowledged that she couldn't find any similar order inside any garbage, yet could guarantee that the bag I got had been replaced. What a disappointment!

PREVIOUS REVIEW Food continues to be great! But attitude and friendly disposition from supervisory personnel is not the same. I bought some caldo for 2 and asked for 2 more tortillas. Supervisor suggested that I buy a dozen! I was baffled, since for years the restaurant has extend it's courtesy to provide few extras.

I had not eaten all day and had a very long drive from Austin. Taco Palenque was highly recommended to me (I had sampled one location in San Antonio previously.) Not sure what the difference was, but this place was excellent. I ordered 3 tacos and they were so large I could only finish 2 and took 1 back to the hotel. I ordered the Pirata taco which was a very generous portion of delicious beef fajita meat with beans and cheese. Once I topped it with a generous amount of salsa verde and pico de gallo & cilantro it was truly delicious. The picadillo taco came out pipping hot and was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Again, I enhanced the taco with salsa and pico and it was excellent! I really loved the large salsa bar with an amazing selection of salsas and toppings to select from. I came in mid-afternoon and it was not very busy so my tacos arrived quickly. I was impressed with the number of staff that were very diligent in refreshing the salsa bar and making sure any spills were immediately cleaned up. That has to be a real challenge during busy times, but they did a great job. As I was only in Laredo one night, I promised myself another visit before leaving town. Having grown up in San Antonio, I realized this restaurant is what Taco Cabana has wanted to be all...

Tonight I was at taco Palenque after months of being here! I’ve always loved this location growing up but tonight has to be the highlight of my life visiting taco Palenque!!! I was at the sides station and spilled some of my salsa I had just served myself as I was about to walk away! The response from the staff the two gentlemen that were cleaning the area assisted me right away! I stood frozen because I knew they were cleaning and I had just made a spill on the freshly clean area… at other places they’d just look at you like oh well you spilled it, but here at taco Palenque they all almost ran to make sure I was okay and even handed me some wet towels to make sure my clothes were fine. I was expecting a negative customer service.. I literally spilled something almost at the end of their shift, yet they cared for me like family and as if they didn’t just complete a full day of work. The food was amazing as always! The way they treat you like family makes taco Palenque the best taco and Mexican food spot in Laredo, but specifically the San Bernardo location located infront of sams and Burlington!
